During a panel at the Lucca Comics & Games Convention in Italy, Netflix dropped a new trailer for Season 2 of The Witcher, much to the delight and surprise of fans. Giving an idea of where each of the central characters will be in the next season, the trailer also revealed some of the new monsters and exciting battles that will be seen throughout the upcoming season. Less than two months remain until the new fantasy series premieres, and this trailer only makes fans more excited for its release.

The trailer feels full and rich without giving away too much, but one thing’s for sure: We’ll finally see Geralt (Henry Cavill) train Ciri (Freya Allan) and there will be plenty of monsters for Geralt to battle.

Take a look at the exciting footage below:

Along with a new trailer, Netflix also released a set of first look unit images from the series:

Following the battle that ended in Season One, there are plenty of directions that story can go, but the official synopsis should give fans an idea of what to expect:

Convinced that Yennefer’s (Anya Chalotra) life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt brings Princess Cirilla (Freya Allan) to the safest place he knows — his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans, and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.

It has been almost two years since The Witcher last aired due to the Coronavirus pandemic. This season will be compromised of eight episodes and fans won’t have to wait too long for another season as Netflix has already given the green light for Season 3.

Along with Cavill and Allan, The Witcher also stars Anya Chalotra (Yennefer), Jodhi May (Calanthe), Björn Hlynur Haraldsson (Eist), Adam Levy (Mousesack), MyAnna Buring (Tissaia), Mimi Ndiweni (Fringilla), Therica Wilson-Read (Sabrina), Emma Appleton (Renfri), Eamon Farren (Cahir), Joey Batey (Jaskier), Lars Mikkelsen (Stregobor), Royce Pierreson (Istredd), Maciej Musiał (Sir Lazlo), Wilson Radjou-Pujalte (Dara), and Anna Shaffer (Triss).

The Witcher Season 2 will stream on Netflix beginning on Friday, Dec. 17.
