Screen Media Drops Trailer For New Horror Film, ‘Black Friday’

Ever since Halloween graced movie theaters in 1978, horror films set during specific holidays have grown in prevalence. Between films like Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984), ThansKilling (2008), and My Bloody Valentine (1981), most of the major holidays have been the basis of some horror movie or another. But there is one specific holiday that’s been overlooked for decades which is finally getting the scary movie treatment in the upcoming film Black Friday.

Starring Bruce Campbell and Devon Sawa, Black Friday tells the story of retail workers having to deal with the busiest shopping day of the year while also dealing with an alien parasite that’s turning the shoppers into zombies. A new trailer for the film just dropped, which you can watch above.

The film is the brainchild of a few newcomers to Hollywood. Director Casey Tebo has a number of shorts and documentaries under his belt, but Black Friday is only his second full-length feature, his first being the virtually unknown Happy Birthday from 2016. He does, however, have a long-standing friendship and frequently collaborates with Aerosmith’s front man Steven Tyler, so do with that as you will.

Writer Andy Greskoviak also has an unproven track record when it comes to films as Black Friday is the first film under his belt. However, judging by the trailer, it looks like between Greskoviak and Tebo, the final product should be pretty fun.

Despite the new blood behind the camera, Black Friday features some veterans from the horror genre, boasting the likes of both Campbell and Sawa. Bruce Campbell is well known in the horror community, having starred in Sam Raimi’s classic Evil Dead films, as well as the spin-off series, Ash vs The Evil Dead. He’s also had a healthy non-horror career starring is shows like Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr., and Burn Notice.

In addition to Campbell, Devon Sawa is well known in the horror community, having starred in the first Final Destination film. Sawa has also built up his fan base with films like Casper and Idle Hands and can currently be seen in Chucky, a television series based on the Childs Play films.

Black Friday also stars Michael Jai White (Spawn), Ivana Baquero (Pan’s Labyrinth), and Ryan Lee (Goosebumps) and will hit theaters on November 19th, with an On-Demand release date of November 23rd, just in time for this year’s Black Friday.
