If you’re tired of waiting for your first look at the long-in-development The Flash movie from Andy Muschietti, you certainly aren’t alone. Thankfully at DC FanDome, Warner Bros and DC Entertainment have answered your prayers with a look at some of the first footage from the film!

The brief clip was introduced by the film’s star, Ezra Miller, who is currently on set filming! Miller explained that the film is early in production and that they didn’t have enough put together for a full teaser trailer, but he, of course, then proceeded to give us one anyway.

This all-too-brief sneak peek at The Flash (2022) kicks off in a fog as a cab arrives outside a big house that looks pretty unmistakably like the familiar entryway of Wayne Manor from the classic Tim Burton Batman films. A voiceover explains that Barry can travel to anywhere in any timeline, as the camera pans across an old empty mansion with dust everywhere. We see a quick clip of a woman that appears to be Barry’s mother in the past, before flashing back to the present where we realize that The Flash is currently standing in the Batcave with Supergirl and… another version of himself. We realize quickly that he is speaking to Batman, who we only see from behind, but who is very distinctly wearing the classic Michael Keaton Batsuit not seen since Batman Returns (1992). The whole thing wraps up with Barry pulling a dust-covered sheet off of a familiar shape that can only be the classic 1989 Batmobile.

You can check it out below!

As exciting as the ties to the Tim Burton era Batman films are, perhaps even more exciting is our first glimpse of Barry Allen’s new Flash costume! While Ezra MIller’s Barry Allen has appeared in Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice (2016) and Justice League (2017) already (along with brief cameos in Suicide Squad (2016) and The Flash telvision series), he has consistently worn the same costume during his entire tenure as The Flash. Fans and critics alike have long criticized the costume for being too bulky and armored looking rather than designed for speed.

His new look, however, looks to have jumped straight off of the page featuring a much more slimmed down look with bright yellow wiring throughout; a design element borrowed from The New 52 era of comics. In addition to giving marketing a new costume to work with (which means plenty of new toys, tee shirts, posters, and collectibles), it gives fans something that closer resembles that character they know and love from the comics; a thought that is comforting as DC Comics’ premiere speedster heads into his first ever solo film.

While story details are largely under wraps for the time being, The Flash (2022) looks to be borrowing heavily from the Flashpoint comic book series which sees Barry Allen literally running through time and exploring alternate realities to his own. Due to this, we can look forward to plenty of interesting characters appearing, including both Ben Affleck’s Batman from Justice League and Michael Keaton’s return to the Batman role from the Tim Burton films. The film will also see the debut of Sasha Calle as Supergirl, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Maribel Verdu as Nora Allen, and Ron Livingston taking over the Henry Allen role from Billy Crudup (who had to bow out of the project due to scheduling after making a brief appearance as the character in Justice League).

The Flash (2022) is currently filming in London. The project is being directed by Andy Muschietti based on a script by Christina Hodson, who recently worked on Birds Of Prey for DC. Audiences can look forward to The Flash (2022) speeding into theaters on November 4, 2022.

Are you hyped to see the Scarlet Speedster finally getting his own solo film? Do you think it is getting a little crowded to keep calling it a “solo” film? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below and be sure to stick around Geek Anything for more updates on The Flash!
