Delroy Lindo Is The New Mr. Nancy In Amazon’s ‘Anansi Boys’

Delroy Lindo on The Good Fight
Paramount+

The Good Fight vet Delroy Lindo has been cast as Mister Nancy on Amazon Prime Video’s Anansi Boys.  The series is based on Neil Gaiman’s novel of the same name.  The novel was a spinoff of American Gods, but the new Amazon miniseries will not be connected to the Starz American Gods series which was put out of its misery… er, canceled after three seasons.  Orlando Jones portrayed Mister Nancy in that series but was essentially fired after the second season.

In a statement, Gaiman expressed:

“Delroy Lindo is a giant of the stage and the screen, and we are so lucky to have him.  I cannot wait to see his gravitas and charm being deployed for the benefit of Anansi Boys, as he plays an unreliable father with hidden depths.”

Lindo starred for four seasons on CBS All Access/Paramount+’s The Good Fight as Adrian Boseman.  He left the series in Season 5 in order to star in the pilot for the potential ABC series Harlem’s Kitchen, as a celebrity chef, but the series was not picked up.  He previously starred in the shows Kidnapped, The Chicago Code, Believe, and Blood & Oil.  Among his film credits are Malcolm X, Crooklyn, Congo, Clockers, Feeling Minnesota, Romeo Must Die, Gone in 60 Seconds, Heist, The Last Castle, Sahara, This Christmas, Point Break, and Da 5 Bloods.  His big breakout was the role of Bo Catlett in the John Travolta vehicle Get Shorty.

Lindo will just be a supporting character on Anansi Boys, as his character will be deceased at the start.  Anansi Boys focuses on Charlie Nancy, “who learns that his recently deceased father is none other than Anansi. On top of that, he has a brother he never knew about who’s entering his life and making it more dangerous.”  Mister Nancy was an African trickster god who tended to take on the form of a spider.
