‘Loki’ Will Arrive On Disney+ Earlier Than Expected

Fans will have a slightly shorter wait before jumping back into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Disney+ has announced that Loki will debut two days earlier than previously announced. It will now debut on Wednesday, June 9. Furthermore, new episodes will continue to drop on Wednesday, which is a change from the previous practice of dropping new episodes of WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, as well as The Mandalorian, all of which released new installments on Fridays.

“Wednesdays are the new Fridays,” proclaimed Tom Hiddleston himself in a new promo spot.

The clip is short and sweet and no explanation was provided for the change. I know that I personally sometimes have trouble viewing new episodes on Fridays, as it seems that so many people are streaming it at the same time, and there have been instances when they’ve lagged or frozen. I’m not sure how moving it up might relieve that, but it may cause some people to delay their viewings until the weekend, so traffic might not be as high all at once. But that’s just a guess.

Then again, it may also make it harder to avoid spoilers if you can’t watch the show the first day it drops.

Loki features the time anomaly version of Hiddleston’s trickster god from Avengers: Endgame who draws the attention of the Time Variance Authority. Joining Hiddleston are Owen Wilson as Mobius M. Mobius; Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Lexus Renslayer; Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-15; plus Sophia Di Martino, Richard E. Grant, Sasha Lane, and Erika Coleman in undisclosed roles.

The series was developed for television by Michael Waldron (Rick and Morty). Season 1 consists of six episodes, which will be 40-50 minutes long, and directed by Kate Herron.  It has been hinted that this series could last for more than one season.

Are you excited to get Loki a couple days early?
