It’s the theme park experience 65-million years in the making, and it is finally almost here! Universal Orlando has announced the opening date for their brand new Jurassic World VelociCoaster ride!
First rumored way back in 2018 and formally announced in September 2020, the Jurassic World VelociCoaster in Universal Studios Orlando is now set to open this summer! The highly anticipated thrill ride is set to open at the Universal Studios Islands Of Adventure theme park in Orlando Florida on June 10, 2021.
You can check out some all-new footage of the multi-launch coaster in action below. It even includes a point-of-view perspective to give viewers a real taste of what the Jurassic World VelociCoaster has in store for riders.
As you can see in the teaser video, the ride takes viewers on a high-speed adventure through the Jurassic World Raptor Paddock and has several “close calls” with some of Jurassic World‘s most fearsome predators throughout the ride. The Jurassic World VelociCoaster features extraordinary life-sized animatronics of the fan-favorite ‘Raptor Squad’ from the first Jurassic World (2015) film including Charlie, Delta, Echo, and of course Blue.
Fans of the Jurassic World film franchise will be excited to see that several of the series’ recurring cast members are making appearances during the ride’s immersive narrative including Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), and the mysterious Dr. Henry Wu (B.D. Wong).
The Jurassic World VelociCoaster was designed by the legendary roller coaster company Intamin, who also recently collaborated with Universal Orlando on the Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure Coaster for the Harry Potter World section of the park.

While the Jurassic World VelociCoaster is opening this summer, fans of the Jurassic World films will have to wait a bit longer for the next film in the blockbuster franchise, Jurassic World: Dominion, which is set to release in Summer 2022. At least Season 3 of Netflix’s Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous is coming sooner than expected!
