Ever since it was announced that Oscar Isaac, the man who made fans swoon as Poe Dameron in the Star Wars sequels, would be taking up the mantle of Moon Knight in the upcoming Disney+ series, fans have been salivating to see him in action as the Fist of Khonshu. Not one to let his adoring public down, Isaac recently posted on his Instagram a video of him practicing his martial arts and street fighting as he preps for the role.

The video, which was released on the official Instagram account for his production company Mad Gene Media, was captioned with “Currently out of the office,” as well as the hashtag #TheOneYouSeeComing, which is a direct reference to Moon Knight #5 (which was written by Warren Ellis with art by Declan Shalvey). Filmed at the Brooklyn Zoo indoor gymnastics center in New York, the video shows Isaac sparring with three different men, flipping and kicking his way through them. He uses his moves to disarm a knife and a gun (both props, I’m sure) , and even seems to use a crescent-shaped weapon, probably a way to familiarize himself with Moon Knight’s moon-themed arsenal.

Moon Knight will follow the exploits of Marc Spector, former Marine turned CIA spy who is betrayed and left for dead by his partner. At death’s door, he is found by Khonshu, the Egyptian god of the moon, and is promised power in exchange for fealty. As Moon Knight, Spector uses the abilities imbued by Khonshu to wage war on crime and does so amongst the multiple personalities he struggles with.

Though it’s unclear how closely Disney+’s Moon Knight series will follow the comic book origin, we do know that Ethan Hawke will appear opposite Isaac, but who he will be playing is still a secret. (It is speculated, however, that Hawke will be playing Bushman, Marc Spector’s partner who left him for dead.) May Calamawy (Ramy) will also be in the show, and also in an as-yet-unknown role. Egyptian filmmaker Mohamed Diab will be directing the series.

Moon Knight is expected to hit Disney+ in 2022.
