Disney+’s Star Wars lineup will grow this April, and we are not fooling around.

On April 2nd, Star Wars: The Vintage Collection becomes available to stream. Among the new offerings are two Ewok movies that aired on television in the mid-80s and several animated series, most notable Star Wars: Clone Wars.

Not to be confused with the 2008 CGI series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars which already calls Disney+ home, the awarding-winning animated Star Wars: Clone Wars aired on Cartoon Network from 2003 to 2005. Three seasons worth of ‘minisodes’ famed for their dynamic action, distinct visual style, and very little dialogue. Episodes lasted between 3 to 15 minutes. It also featured the first appearance of General Grievous. The series was written and directed by Genndy Tartakovskywho created Samurai Jack for Cartoon Network and wrote and produced many of the network’s hits between 1998 and 2010.

1984’s The Ewok Adventure (Caravan of Courage) and 1985’s Ewoks: The Battle for Endor both had a small international release in theaters. They were eventually released on VHS and Laserdisc in the 80s and as a double feature on DVD in 2004, but they have not re-aired on TV. Also arriving from the forest moon of Endor are the two seasons of the Nelvana produced Ewok Saturday morning animated series. Centered around Wicket and his friends, Teebo, Latara, and Kneesaa, it chronicled their adventures on Endor before the Empire arrived.

The biggest surprise on the list is the oldest, The Story of the Faithful Wookiee. But you probably just know it as the animated segment from the infamous 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special.  The shorts ran interspersed between the live comedy and musical segments of the special. (The less said about them the better.) The segment, also produced by Nelvana, would be considered as the best thing to come out of that speeder wreck. Oh, it also introduced bounty hunter Boba Fett to the Star Wars Universe.

Sadly, Nelvana’s other animated series from the 80s, Star Wars: Droids, does not appear to be arriving with the rest of these goodies. Maybe when Star Wars: A Droid’s Story arrives, it will bring the classic toon with it. Either way, the cartoon had the best theme song, and I will take any opportunity to share it, so check it out below.
