‘The Boys’ College Spin-Off Recruits Its First Two Students With Jaz Sinclair And Lizze Broadway

Jaz Sinclair and Lizze Broadway have been cast for The Boys College spin off

The Boys college-set spin-off series has recruited its first two students — Chilling Adventures of Sabrina‘s Jaz Sinclair and The Rookie‘s Lizze Broadway. The spin-off doesn’t have a name yet, but will reportedly focus on a “Hunger Games-esque” university run by Vought International, where they are presumably finding the hyper-powered fascists of the future.

Sinclair’s character is named Marie and Broadway’s is Emma.

One way in which this will not be like The Hunger Games is that this is definitely not for tweens. This series will be just as graphic as The Boys. Showrunner Eric Kripke assured that the new show will not be a “watered-down version… It’s its own totally different animal. The goal is that the spin-off will definitely be a college show.”

Via EW:

The show explores the lives of hormonal, competitive supes as they put their physical, sexual, and moral boundaries to the test, competing for the best contracts in the best cities.

The spin-off was concocted by The Boys writer and producer Craig Rosenberg. It will be “loosely” based on the G-Men from the original Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson comic book. They appeared in issues 23-30, entitled “We Gotta Go Now,” and are a parody of the X-Men and all (ALL!) of their various spin-off teams and characters.

Last October, Kripke said (via Coming Soon):

“Part of the G-Men is there’s sort of an educational, college experience,” said Kripke. “And we just used that as a jumping-off point, kind of similar to The Boys, where we sort of take an initial notion and then we are going to run with it in our own weird direction.

“Me and [producers] Seth [Rogen] and Evan [Goldberg] and Craig Rosenberg, we don’t feel the need to jam spinoffs out there,” Kripke added. “We were just talking and we stumbled onto this idea and we were so excited about it, we took it to Amazon. Because we think there’s a real opportunity to see another part of the Vought world. But probably, more importantly, to make a show that isn’t really made that often, which is what we love about it, which is, as The Boys is an unflinching look at reality, the goal for this is to make this superhero show one of the most realistic college shows anyone’s made. And really deal with real college issues and really explore what it’s like to be that age.”

Jaz Sinclair is best known for playing Sabrina’s best friend Rosalind Walker on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, a character that has her own set of superpowers, so she already has some experience there. She also appeared in the Slender Man movie and on Rizzoli & Isles, and The Vampire Diaries. She will next be seen in the thriller Please Baby Please.

Lizze Broadway previously co-starred on the series Here and Now and The Rookie. She appeared in the pilot for The Lost Boys, based on the cult 1987 vampire movie, for The CW, but the show wasn’t ordered to series.  She will next appear in the horror movie The Inhabitant.
