While the love story behind Marvel Studios’ first ever television series, WandaVision, is based around its titular characters, we think it’s safe to say that the real heart of the show is actually Darcy Lewis and Jimmy Woo. No, the pair aren’t a romantic couple (that we are aware of anyway), but they do have an undeniable on-screen chemistry together. Since the WandaVision‘s premiere, fans have made it clear that they want more of Dr. Darcy Lewis and Agent Jimmy Woo.
Kat Denning‘s Darcy Lewis has not appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since back in Thor: The Dark World (2013), a whopping eight-years ago! While that may not seem like a very long time to have a character absent from a film franchise, within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, that means there have been an astounding fifteen films since we last saw Darcy Lewis.
Series executive producer Jac Schaeffer recently spoke to ET about the writers’ decision to include Darcy in the show and the massive changes made to her character during the eight year gap since her last appearance:
With Darcy Lewis, it was really important to us that we show that eight years is a long time and she has accomplished a lot and is a different person. So the fans enjoying her moment where she asserted herself as a doctor, it’s a teeny tiny moment, but it was important to me and to my partners on this.
There were a lot of ideas that didn’t make it into the show, but I feel they helped us in creating this newer version of her. Because it had been eight years, we were like, ‘That’s time enough for a PhD.’ She was integral to everything that Dr. Jane Foster had done, so we liked the idea that she could still have that same sardonic, hilarious voice, but really have become more serious and have a reputation inside of the MCU as being an expert.
While it had been quite some time since we saw Darcy, Randall Park‘s Jimmy Woo has only been absent since right after we first met him in Ant-Man And The Wasp (2019). As he was a newer character introduced just prior to the wrap up of the larger Infinity Saga, Jimmy Woo had never previously interacted with Darcy prior to their sudden reappearances in WandaVision.
When asked if she would be able to reveal more of the writers’ ideas on how they might use Darcy Lewis and Jimmy Woo in WandaVision, Schaffer regretfully elaborated that she wouldn’t be able to provide much more information on the matter outside of the amount of fun the writers had working with these two fan-favorite characters. Schaeffer said:
I don’t think I can. I wish I could. I wish I could spend a whole day talking about our Darcy Lewis ideas, and our Jimmy Woo ideas. They were really just great sources of joy for us when we were developing the series.
So while we may not have all of the answers just yet, with only one episode of the hit series left, it’s only a matter of days before we get the whole story. Maybe Darcy and Jimmy will even get their own theme song?

The first eight episodes of WandaVision are currently streaming on the Disney+ subscription streaming service with new episodes premiering every Friday since early January. The season (series?) finale is set to air this Friday, March 5, 2021.
