Though the sixth season of the hit CW show Legends of Tomorrow has yet to air, due to shooting delays because of the global pandemic, the show has been renewed for a seventh season. That news is sure to excite fans, but word that the next season of the show is to be the last for a major character is sure to bring them back down.

Dominic Purcell, who debuted in the Arrowverse in the very first season of The Flash as the villain Heat Wave, recently announced on his Instagram that he will be stepping down from his role as Mick Rory following the filming of Season Seven while criticizing Hollywood elites at the same time. He posted an image of his character from behind the scenes of the show and added this as the caption:

I’ll give ya 1 more/stay honorable to my contract. #Season7…. thanks to Warner Bros TV, DC Comics, [and] CW Legends of Tomorrow. It’s not lost on me how fortunate I am in a world full of turmoil and tragedy/nor the unfairness of life; that I prevail while others struggle… P.s. to celebrities/ rich people the ‘well off.’ We don’t wanna see how awesome your life is on social it’s not the time nor the place at present. Get a clue.

Legends of Tomorrow is a CW original show set within the Arrowverse, which is the name of the shows that spun off from the hit Arrow similar to the Marvel Cinematic Universe of films. The Legends, as they are known, are comprised of characters who were rescued from their timelines on the brinks of their deaths and assembled to right the wrongs of the time stream. Though the lineup of characters has changed over the years, the team has mostly consisted of Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), Sarah Lance (Caity Lotz), and Purcell’s character, Mick Rory. Also a member of the team for a while was Leonard Snart, the Flash villain known as Captain Cold, who was portrayed by Purcell’s Prison Break castmate, Wentworth Miller.

As a flagship member of the team, the departure of Dominic Purcell from the show is surely a disappointment, but as a dedicated actor, it’s easy to see why he feels the need to move on. Hopefully, he finds something that’s just as fulfilling as Legends of Tomorrow was and is happy in his future roles.
