Deadline reports that David Ramsey will return to the CWverse (formerly the Arrowverse) as both John Diggle and as a director for five episodes across the network’s slate of superhero series. Diggle’s return will also bring him in a new “mystery role” in at least one of those five episodes. Ramsey will guest star as Diggle on Superman & Lois, Supergirl, Flash, Batwoman, and in a mystery role in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.
At the end of Arrow, Diggle packs up his family to leave Star City and move to Metropolis. When all of a sudden a fireball streaks and lands close to him, knocking him off his feet. Coming to, he approached the crater and in it, found a small casket. We last see him opening it, as a bright green glow bathes his face…
Presumably, the verdant light glowing on John comes from a ring, a Green Lantern ring. So when John returns, he will be the Green Lantern for space sector 2814. (The sector Earth is in.) It was established that John’s step-father’s last name is Stewart, which could have made him John Stewart, instead of Diggle.
It won’t be Ramsey’s first go-around behind the camera, either. He directed for the first time back in 2018, for an episode in Season 7 of Arrow (“Past Sins”) and returned to directing one episode in Season 8 (“Reset”).
Ramsey expressed his enthusiasm for the DC universe he helped usher into our television screens:
“I remain in awe of the imprint these shows have had on television and I’ve been blessed for the better part of a decade to be a part of them both in front of and behind the camera. To say I’m excited beyond belief to return to the Berlantiverse would be an understatement. I can’t wait to continue telling these stories.”
