In the name of the moon, you will not want to miss the all-new trailer for the latest chapter of the Sailor Moon saga! A new trailer and poster have been released for the upcoming Sailor Moon Eternal Part 2, which is set to hit theaters in just a few weeks.
The Sailor Moon franchise has been on an interesting journey in recent years. In 2014, the Sailor Moon series was revived as Sailor Moon Crystal. The series was a much closer adaptation of the original Sailor Moon manga series rather than the loose adaptation fans know from the 90s. After three successful seasons, the series was put on hold and the decision was made to adapt the final arc of the manga series, the Dead Moon, into a two-film theatrical release rather than a fourth season of the show. This two-film story is releasing as Sailor Moon Eternal in Japan.
The first Sailor Moon Eternal film was released theatrically in Japan on January 8, 2021, and has been well-received during its theatrical run. With the second film’s release on February 11, 2021, just a few weeks away, Toei Animation has finally released the first trailer and given fans their first taste of the big finale. As you may have noticed, the new Sailor Moon Eternal trailer shows off the entire Sailor Guardians team ready for action with new forms for this final chapter. If they went by too quickly in the trailer, you’re in luck! Toei Animation also released a new poster to coincide with the film’s release that gives a closer look at these new forms. The team behind Sailor Moon Eternal all have plenty of experience working with the franchise and are doing their best to give fans the best send-off possible to this beloved franchise. Sailor Moon‘s original creator Naoko Takeuchi is serving as the creative supervisor on both films that is a joint production between Toei Animation and Studio DEEN. The entire voice cast from the Sailor Moon Crystal anime series is also on board the project, including Hisako Kanemoto, Rina Satou, Shizuka Itou, Misato Fukuen, Ami Koshimizu, and of course Kotono Mitsuishi as Sailor Moon herself.
Unfortunately for international fans, no release date has been provided for either of the two Sailor Moon Eternal films outside of Japan. There also have been no updates as to when we might expect an English dubbed release.
