The smoothest smuggler in the Star Wars universe, Lando Calrissian, is coming to Disney+. The show was announced during the Disney investor livestream event along with a whole slew of new projects set a long time ago, in a galaxy far away.
The galaxy’s favorite scoundrel, Lando Calrissian, will return in Lando, a brand-new event series for @DisneyPlus. Justin Simien (@JSim07) is in the early stages of developing the project.

Other than the title, we don’t know much about the series. Will it be a follow up to Solo or a prequel? Will superstar Donald Glover return to the role? Or could the series take place during the same time as The Mandalorian? Could Billy Dee Williams, who originated the role, be involved? We won’t know much for some time as writer/producer Justin Simien (Dear White People) is in the early stages of developing the series.
Lando will be just one of the many new series and films coming from Disney. The House of Mouse also updated investors on the Obi-Wan Kenobi and Cassian Andor series. New shows in development include Ahsoka, Rangers of the New Republic, and The Acolyte. Three animated series, The Bad Batch, a follow up to The Clone Wars, A Droid Story, centered on the untold tale of C-3PO & R2-D2, and Star Wars: Visions, an anime anthology series coming in 2021, were also announced.
On the theatrical front, Wonder Woman auteur Patty Jenkins will be directing the next Star Wars feature film, Rogue Squadron. It will tell the story of “a new generation of starfighter pilots as they earn their wings and risk their lives in a boundary-pushing, high-speed thrill-ride, and move the saga into the future era of the galaxy.”
