Wonder Woman Comes Home for Christmas This Year

As 2020 drags on, Warner Brothers has announced that Wonder Woman 1984 will finally debut in theaters (wherever they may be open) and streaming online direct to HBOMax this Christmas Day, December 25, 2020.

It makes this the 6th release date for the film, 4th since the beginning of the global pandemic.  The last announced release date had the movie expected in theaters on October 2.

The sequel to the 2017 hit brings back stars Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Chris Pine as Steve Trevor. (Who’s back from the apparent dead, 67 years after he was last seen.)   Original director Patty Jenkins also returns.

Joining the cast are Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids, Ghostbusters) as Barbara Minerva a/k/a the Cheetah and Pedro Pascal (Narcos, The Mandalorian).   Also returning will be Connie Nielsen (Gladiator) as Amazon Queen and Diana’s mother, Hippolyta, and Robin Wright (House of Cards, The Princess Bride) as Antiope.

HBOMax will include Wonder Woman 1984 as part of the regular subscription service and not charge an additional premium to view the film.  In international markets where HBO Max is not available, the film starts rolling out on Dec. 16.
