Hello there! We’re already excited about the not-yet-formally-announced-but-not-exactly-a-well-kept-secret Obi-Wan Kenobi Star Wars spinoff series for the Disney+ streaming service. But today at Disney’s Investor Day conference, we got some big news that tells us that The Force is truly strong with this one!

This new Obi-Wan Kenobi series was finally formally announced today and is set to bring back Ewan McGregor in the title role which he previously played in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Perhaps the bigger news, though, is that he won’t be returning alone.

In a major reveal, it was announced that Star Wars prequel trilogy star Hayden Christensen would be returning to a galaxy far, far, away as the villainous Darth Vader for this new Obi-Wan Kenobi series. That’s right! He’s not playing little Anakin Skywalker anymore! He is suiting up as the full-on Dark Lord Of The Sith, Darth Vader!

The show is now confirmed to be set 10 years following the events of Revenge Of The Sith,  meaning that it is still set about 9 years before we would meet Obi-Wan again in A New Hope.

Kathleen Kennedy, President of Lucasfilm, has teased a rematch between the two, which means we may see Obi-Wan and Vader facing off again for the first time since that fateful day on Mustafa, and a decade ahead of their final battle on The Death Star.

You can check out the very first Obi-Wan Kenobi teaser below!

Obi-Wan Kenobi is expected to hit the Disney+ streaming platform in 2022.

Are you excited to see Hayden Christensen returning to Star Wars after fifteen years away? Or would you rather he kept away from the franchise once and for all? Let us know in the comments below and stick around Geek Anything for all the latest Star Wars news!
