The Force is strong with the new Obi-Wan Kenobi television series being developed for the Disney+ streaming service!

Based on information found in a listing from the Film & Television Industry Alliance and reported by CBM, the new not-yet-titled live-action Star Wars series starring Ewan McGregor is set to begin filming on January 4th, 2021. McGregor previously played the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars prequel trilogy from 1999 through 2005.

The report states that filming is expected to take place in Boston, Massachusetts, and London, England. Thanks to their ability to use The Volume (which is the same advanced filming technology used to film The Mandalorian), Lucasfilm should have no problem bringing the desert planet of Tatooine to reality without actually having to go film in the desert.

While story details are being kept under wraps, it is expected that the new show will fill in some of the gaps in Obi-Wan Kenobi’s story. More specifically, from the time he dropped infant Luke Skywalker off with his Aunt Beru and Uncle Owen to the time he reunites with Luke nearly two decades later.

As Obi-Wan stayed on Tatooine to keep a watchful eye over young Luke during this time, much of the show is expected to take place on the barren desert planet with two suns. There are also rumors running rampant that we may see some live action flashbacks to The Clone Wars and potentially even some Darth Vader action. This series is really ramping up to be something truly special for fans.

Now that it’s only a month away from filming, what are you hoping to see on this all new Obi-Wan Kenobi television series on Disney+? Let us know in the comments section below and be sure to stay tuned to Geek Anything for all the latest Star Wars news!
