It’s been a rough year, but WarnerMedia has a Christmas present for fans in the form of the long-delayed Wonder Woman 1984.  The sequel to 2017’s blockbuster DC Comics film was supposed to have opened on June 5, but COVID-19 scrapped those plans.  The picture was pushed back multiple times, but WarnerMedia is tired of sitting on its would-be theatrical hits, and Wonder Woman 1984 will finally be released in the United States on Christmas Day, December 25, both in theaters and on HBO Max.

In anticipation of this film’s release in three weeks, a new trailer has been released along with a new set of character posters.

Director Patty Jenkins presented the new trailer at the virtual version of São Paulo, Brazil’s annual CCXP Comic Con Experience.  Though brief, the new clip does include quite a few never-before-seen shots from the movie.

As Hippolyta says in the opening narration:

“Diana, one day you will become all that you dream of and more.  Then everything will be different. This world is not yet ready for all that you will do. You will become a legend.”

You can check the trailer out for yourself below:

Here is the film’s synopsis:

Fast forward to the 1980s as Wonder Woman’s next big screen adventure finds her facing an all-new foe: The Cheetah. As previously announced, the film also stars Kristen Wiig in the role of the Super-Villain The Cheetah, as well as Pedro Pascal. Chris Pine also returns as Steve Trevor.

In addition to the new trailer, new character posters have been released of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Kristen Wiig as Barbara Minerva/The Cheetah, and Pedro Pascal as Max Lord.

Wonder Woman 1984 also stars Robin Wright as Antiope and Connie Nielsen as Hippolyta, reprising those roles from the first Wonder Woman.  In addition, Ravi Patel, Kristoffer Polaha, Natasha Rothwell, Gabriella Wilde, and Amr Waked have undisclosed roles.

Wonder Woman 1984 will open in the US in theaters in Dolby Cinema and IMAX on Christmas Day, December 25.  Outside of the US, WarnerMedia is gradually rolling the film out, beginning on December 16 and continuing until January 28, 2021.

Will you be checking out this long-delayed DC project when it is released?  And if so, how?
