DC’s first Superhero Team joins the ranks of DC’s Animated Feature Films. According to THR, Justice Society: World War II has added Stana Katic (Castle, Absentia) and Matt Bomer (Doom Patrol, White Collar) to the cast as Wonder Woman and The Flash respectively.
The WB began making original DC Universe animated films in 2007. This marks the first Warner Brothers Animation feature to star the Justice Society.
Armen Taylor will also star as Jay Garrick. That means Matt Bomer’s Flash is most likely Barry Allen. That, and the inclusion of Aquaman and Iris West, implies that at least part of this film takes place in the present. While Aquaman has been around since the 1940s, he never was a part of the JSA.
WHO IS THE JSA?
The Justice Society debuted in the comics in 1940 in All-Star Comics #3. The team consisted of several major characters featured in National Comics and All-American Publications. They would later merge and go on to become DC Comics.
The original Justice Society of America team included the original Green Lantern (Alan Scott), Flash (Jay Garrick), Hawkman (Carter Hall), Sandman (Wesley Dodds), Dr. Fate (Kent Nelson), The Atom (Al Pratt), and the Spectre (Jim Corrigan). Batman and Superman were honorary members. Wonder Woman made her first appearance in All Star Comics #8, the same issue Doctor Mid-Nite and Starman joined the team.
