The CW Renews ‘Superman & Lois’ But Cancels ‘Gotham Knights’

While The CW is transitioning to almost all reality programming, it is hanging on to some scripted shows.  Its #1 show, Walker is among them. And now, the CW is hanging on to the last vestige of the “Arrowverse,” Superman & Lois.  However, getting the chop was the freshman series Gotham Knights, which focused on Batman’s adopted son and a team that included the daughter of The Joker, Duela.

After The CW did not order any scripted pilots for the upcoming fall season and released the ones that it already had in development back to the studios that created them, it was kind of a given that its scripted shows were on their way out. At least Superman & Lois will carry on for a ten-episode fourth season.  It joins All American, All American: Homecoming, and Walker.

However, due to The CW’s shift to cheaper fare, some cast members will be cut.  None of the leads should be affected, but some supporting characters may not return.  The series stars Tyler Hoechlin as Clark Kent/ Superman, Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane, Michael Bishop as their son Jonathan (the one that doesn’t have superpowers), and Alex Garfin as their other son Jordan (the one that does).

Brad Schwartz, The CW’s President of Entertainment said:

“We are thrilled to bring All American: Homecoming and Superman & Lois back to The CW.  These series are two of our strongest performers across our linear and digital platforms with some of the most passionate fanbases in all of television. We are grateful to our partners at Warner Bros. Television and Berlanti Productions for their continued collaboration, and we cannot wait to get started on the new seasons.”

As for the show that wasn’t renewed, Gotham Knights starred Oscar Morgan as Turner Hayes, the adopted son of Batman, Olivia Rose Keegan as Duela, Fallon Smythe as Harper Row, Tyler DiChiara as her brother Cullen Row, and CW veteran Misha Collins (Supernatural) as Harvey Dent, who is not Two-Face in this reality.  The setup for the show was that the teens were framed for Batman’s murder and had to clear their names.

Are you glad to get another season of Superman & Lois?  Are you sad to see Gotham Knights go?  (Did you even watch Gotham Knights?)
