‘Superman: Legacy’: The Finalists For The Roles Of Clark And Lois Are Expected To Audition In Person This Weekend

It appears we are very close to finding our new cinematic Clark Kent and Lois Lane for the upcoming Superman: Legacy.  James Gunn, who is writing a directing, and his production partner Peter Safran, who now run DC Studios, have poured over “dozens” of recorded auditions. Reportedly, they will begin meeting with the finalist this weekend and early next week.  Though there is a list of these last picks, it is also reported that not all audition deals have been finalized.

For now, these are rumored to be the finalists.  For the role of Superman/ Clark Kent, it appears that Gunn and Safran are eyeing Tom Brittney and David Corenswet, with the biggest name in the mix being Nicholas Hoult.

Tom Brittney and David Corenswet are relative unknowns. This would be in keeping with a lot of the Superman castings we’ve already seen.  Brandon Routh and Henry Cavill were also not big names when they were cast.

Hoult, on the other hand, may not be the biggest name in Hollywood, but he has worked consistently. He has starred in a slew of films, including some highly acclaimed projects.  Of course, he already has some comic book movie experience, having played The Beast/ Hank McCoy in four X-Men movies (plus a cameo in Deadpool 2).

Brittney’s work has mostly been in British television and film, with him most recently co-starring in the series Grantchester.  He also appeared in the Tom Hanks Apple TV+ movie Greyhound and popped up in an episode of Outlander.

Corenswet recently appeared in the horror movie Pearl. His big break in the U.S. was in Ryan Murphy’s Netflix miniseries Hollywood.  (That series is absolutely horrendous, but it’s not Corenswet’s fault.)

As for the potential Loises, the biggest name on that list is Rachel Brosnahan, best known for her Amazon Prime Video series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, for which she won an Emmy.

The other possibilities are Phoebe Dynevor and Emma Mackey.

Dynevor is also best known for British projects, including the BBC series Dickensian.  American audiences may know her best for playing Duchess Daphne Bassett on Bridgerton.

Mackey had a big role in the Kenneth Branagh Agatha Christie adaptation Death on the Nile.  She played the famous writer Emily Brontë in the film Emily, but she may be best recognized for playing Maeve in the Netflix series Sex Education.  She will appear in the upcoming Barbie movie.

Now these are all RUMORS for now, but most of these names have been floating around for a while.  Provided they can finalize their auditions, any of them could potentially be our next Superman and Lois Lane.

Are you familiar with these actors? If so, who do you think would work the best in these iconic roles?
