‘Stranger Things 5’: One Star Wants Their Character To Die In A “Hero’s Moment”

Stranger Things is Netflix’s flagship show and a pop culture phenomenon. However, all good things must come to an end, and the next season, the fifth will be the last.  Perhaps knowing that the show is ending one way or another, one cast member has declared that they would “love” for their character to be killed off!

Now, Stranger Things has no problem killing off characters, often to heartbreaking results for fans.  Barb, Bob, Alexei, Eddie… even Billy to a certain extent… dug their ways into fans’ hearts only to rip those hearts out as they died tragically.

Maya Hawke wants her character, Robin Buckly to go out like a champ.  In an interview with Rolling Stone, the daughter of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman declared:

“I would love to die and get my hero’s moment.  I’d love to die with honor, as any actor would. But I love the way that the Duffer Brothers love their actors. The reason that they write so beautifully for me and for everyone else is because they fall in love with their actors and their characters, and they don’t want to kill them. I think that’s a beautiful quality that they have, and I wouldn’t wish it away.”

Hawke’s Robin debuted in Season 3 as Steve’s coworker at the Scoops Ahoy mall ice cream shop.  She and Steve formed a friendship with some fans speculating that there may be a potential romance brewing.  However, later, during a prolonged and touching scene where Robin and Steve are stuck hiding in a bathroom, she revealed that she was a lesbian.

Season 4 saw Robin form a bond with another character, Nancy as the pair became an intrepid sleuthing duo.  There was even a tease that Robin might have found a love interest, Vickie, with whom she played in the school band.

Speaking of romance, Hawke commented on the various love connections between the characters on the show.  However, she doesn’t seem to keen on seeing that become the focus of Stranger Things.

“I personally think that the thing that’s so beautiful about the show: it actually has never really been about romance. People are always shipping characters in that show, but really that show’s about friendship.”

But being a newer character on an ensemble program, Robin has a lot of potential that has yet to be tapped.  But is a hero’s death the way to really shine a light on her?

What do you think?  Should Robin die next season?  If not her, who?
