First ‘Clerks III’ Trailer Assures You They’re Open This September

Clerks III featured imageSnoochie Boochies! Fan-favorite writer-director Kevin Smith is heading back to the Quick Stop for a third shift with his all-new threequel Clerks III (2022). After spending the better part of a decade trying to get the film made, Smith has finally succeeded in bringing back Dante, Randal, and (most of) the rest of the Clerks (1993) crew for the film, which just dropped its first trailer!

Releasing this fall, Clerks 3 is planned as the franchise’s finale bringing the story of Dante and Randal to a close. Lionsgate has partnered with Fathom Events to bring the film exclusively to theaters for two nights only this September! Yes, you read that right. The movie will be shown in around 700 theaters for two nights only, on September 13th and September 15th, 2022. These limited screenings will also include an exclusive look behind the scenes of the film and an introduction from Smith and the cast.

Check out the trailer below!

Eda Kowan, Lionsgate’s EVP of Acquisitions & Co-Productions, seems excited to be on “Team Kevin Smith,” saying:

Clerks III is the definition of event cinema, especially if you are a Kevin Smith fan or a maven of independent cinema. This film rounds out the story that started a revolution in filmmaking. And to bring it to the fans on the big screen, there is no greater partner in the world of event cinema than Fathom Events.

If you can’t make it to theaters on either of those two nights, don’t fret! Kevin Smith is also planning on taking the film on one of his infamous roadshows for ‘The Convenience Tour,’ which launches ahead of the film’s wider theatrical release on September 4th in Smith’s home state of New Jersey. The tour will run throughout September and October. Smith and company will bring the film to a screen near you where you can follow up Clerks III with a live Q&A session from Smith.Clerks III movie poster 2

Written and directed by Kevin Smith (who also stars in the film as Silent Bob), Clerks III picks up fifteen years after the events of Clerks II (2006), with Dante (Brian O’Halloran) and Randal (Jeff Anderson) as the owners and operators of the Quick Stop convenience store. Following a massive heart attack (not unlike the one Smith himself experienced in the past), Randal rounds up all your favorite Askewniverse cast members to make a movie that will immortalize his life and leave his mark on the world. Clerks III not only sees the return of Dante and Randal, but also Jay (Jason Mewes), Silent Bob, Elias (Trevor Fehrman), Becky (Rosario Dawson), Veronica (Marilyn Ghigliotti), and even the Chewlies Gum Rep (Scott Schiaffo)!

What did you think of the first trailer for Clerks III? Will you be making your way to theaters this September to catch Clerks III on the big screen? Or are you going to hold out to try and catch it live with Kevin Smith during the Convenience Tour? Be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments section below and stick around for more updates on Clerks III!
