Get Ready To ‘Scream’ With A Final Trailer

Scream - Ghostface
Paramount

We are just days away from the release of the first Scream film in over a decade with Scream (2022) and fans of the long-running slasher franchise are on the edge of their seats! Thankfully, Paramount has decided to give them one more little pre-movie treat with a new final trailer for the film.

Scream is the latest franchise to get a “legacy-quel” that reboots it for a new generation while still bringing back characters and themes from the original films, opening the door to a new generation of fans while respecting what came before.

While franchise creator Wes Craven is unfortunately no longer with us (RIP), the creative team of Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are at the helm this time. After the pair’s success on films like Ready Or Not (2019) and the V/H/S franchise, they quickly became fan favorites for horror lovers and seem like the perfect fit to try and fill Craven’s massive shoes. Check out the final trailer for Scream (2022) below!

As we mentioned earlier, this fifth installment of the Scream franchise sees the return of several major characters from the original film, with the main trio of Neve Campbell’s Sydney Prescott, Courtney Cox’s Gale Weathers, and David Arquette’s Dewey Riley all returning for another round against Ghostface. Also returning is Marley Shelton, who joined the franchise as Deputy Judy Hicks in Scream 4.

These legacy characters will be joined by a whole new crew of teenagers that are being put out to slaughter, with franchise newcomers Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sonia Ammar, Melissa Barrera, Dylan Minnette, Kyle Gallner, Mason Gooding, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, and Mikey Madison all joining the fray.

The film’s official synopsis reads:

Twenty-five years after a streak of brutal murders shocked the quiet town of Woodsboro, a new killer has donned the Ghostface mask and begins targeting a group of teenagers to resurrect secrets from the town’s deadly past.

Scream (2022) is currently set to release exclusively in theaters this weekend on January 14th, 2022, but many have been speculating a potential delay in the release, or an adjustment to those plans for a theatrical exclusivity due to the recent swell in Covid cases as the global pandemic makes its ominous return to the forefront of our reality. As it stands, it looks like Paramount is sticking to their guns on this one and plans on moving forward as scheduled.
