After Loki on Disney+ introduced the concept of the multiverse to the MCU, Marvel has been using it as a catch-all to tie all of their properties together. We’ve already seen some of the Sony Spider-Man film villains showing up in last month’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, essentially turning those movies into MCU canon. However, there are plenty of other properties that Marvel has had at rival studios that are still floating around in limbo, so could we be seeing some of them pop up in the MCU proper anytime soon?

If the rumors are to be believed, then yes.

Though at this time, the reports are a rumor, possible spoilers below. Continue at your own risk.

Twitter user @MyTimeToShineH recently shared to his followers supposed inside knowledge that Mister Fantastic will appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.´

Though there has been no official news to corroborate the tweet, @MyTimeToShineH has grown some notoriety through his Reddit page, u/MyTimeToShineHello, where he announced a few rumors from Spider-Man: No Way Home that turned out to be true.

Mister Fantastic, the stretchy member of the Fantastic Four, is rumored to be in the next Doctor Strange movie.

Does this mean that Mister Fantastic is confirmed for the upcoming Doctor Strange flick? No, not at all. But armed with the knowledge that Marvel Studios has a Fantastic Four film in the works, helmed by Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts, there could very well be some truth to the rumor. Marvel has to introduce the team somehow, and their track record has relied heavily on cameos of major characters in earlier films before being showcased into their own movies.

On top of that, @MyTimeToShineH “reports” that Mister Fantastic will be part of the Illuminati, which could lead to the appearance of other prolific Marvel characters. In the comics, the Illuminati was a collection of six of the Marvel Universe’s strongest beings. The team used their power and influence to shape events in the universe while keeping their existence a secret. It’s important to note that, in addition to Stephen Strange and Reed Richards (aka Mister Fantastic), the Illuminati roster also included Charles Xavier, Black Bolt of the Inhumans, and Namor of Atlantis. So, it could be that Marvel Studios is using Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as a springboard to a few major film series.

So, where do you stand on the side of this rumor? Do you believe the hype, or are you approaching with hesitant caution? We’d love to hear your thoughts, so shout us out on Twitter or let us know over on our Facebook page.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters exclusively on May 6, 2022.
