Here Is When You Can Stream ‘Eternals’ On Disney+

Eternals got a mixed reaction when it hit theaters in early November, to put it mildly.  Directed by Academy Award-winner Chloé Zhao, this picture received the worst reviews of any Marvel Cinematic Universe film to date with a poor 47% ranking on Rotten Tomatoes.  (It fared much better with audiences with a 78% score.)

One issue that some had with the film is that it was a little too packed with ten main characters (eleven if you count Kit Harington’s Dane Whitman), not all of whom got enough screen time to make them register with viewers and a plot that started before the creation of the universe and continued into the present.  It was a lot to unpack.

If you want to revisit the film and maybe get a better feel for all the characters and the plotlines, Disney has announced that Eternals will be available to stream on Disney+ on January 12.  It will be available in an IMAX Enhanced aspect ratio.

That’s 69 days after it opened in theaters and is in keeping with Disney’s current trends.  Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was made available to stream 71 days after its theatrical premiere.

Eternals made $71.3M on its opening weekend.  It has since made $181.3M in the United States and Canada and $234.2M in other countries, bringing its total gross to $395.5M.  Its budget was a reported $200M.

The film follows the exploits of a collection of extraterrestrial demigods who have dwelled on Earth since the dawn of civilization.

Eternals stars Gemma Chan as the human-loving Sersi, Salma Hayek as stoic leader Ajak, Brian Tyree Henry as soulful inventor Phastos, Angelina Jolie as expert warrior Thena, Barry Keoghan as the mind-controlling Druig, Don Lee as damaged combatant Gilgamesh, Richard Madden as the Superman-like Ikaris, Lia McHugh as eternally youthful Sprite, Kumail Nanjiani as comedic actor Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as the deaf speedster Makkari, and Kit Harington as Dane Whitman.  The film also features Harry Styles as Eros/Starfox, and vocal cameos by Mahershala Ali and Patton Oswalt.
