Perhaps HBO Max will make sure that 2022 is magical! (We can hope!) On Sunday, January 1, the streaming service will present Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts, a special meant to celebrate the 20 year anniversary of the first film, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s/Sorcerer’s Stone. Daniel Radcliffe (Harry), Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley), and Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) will take part as will Chris Columbus who directed the inaugural installment.
However, the special doesn’t just focus on the first movie. It will examine the entire franchise. Additional guest-stars include Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix LeStrange), Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid), Ralph Fiennes (Lord Voldemort), Gary Oldman (Sirius Black), Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy), Imelda Staunton (Dolores Umbridge), Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy), Oliver Phelps (George Weasley), James Phelps (Fred Weasley), Mark Williams (Arthur Weasley), Alfred Enoch (Dean Thomas), Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley), Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood), Ian Hart (Professor Quirrell) and more.
In case you were wondering, the special will indeed see the cast “Return to Hogwarts” as they assemble at the original sets where the movies were filmed.
Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts will be executive produced by Casey Patterson (A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote), who stated:
“There’s magic in the air here with this incredible cast, as they all return home to the original sets of Hogwarts, where they began 20 years ago. The excitement is palpable as they prepare to take their fans on a very special and personal journey, through the making of these incredible films.”
