It’s been a long time coming, but Ghostbusters Afterlife finally comes to theaters in a few weeks. With its impending arrival, Sony Pictures publicity kicks into high gear, and the first stand-alone clip from the legacy sequel dropped online this week.
In the clip, Paul Rudd’s Mr. Grooberson, a school teacher, helps Phoebe (McKenna Grace), the granddaughter of Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis), open up one of the classic ghost traps used by the ‘Busters to capture and transport all sorts of ghosts and ghoulies.” It takes a little coaxing, but he gets the trap to open, and well… check the results for yourself, below.
If you haven’t followed the story or seen the trailer, Ghostbusters Afterlife comes from director Jason Reitman, son of the director, Ivan Reitman. The elder Reitman serves as producer on the latest film. It tells the next chapter of the original Ghostbusters continuity. In Ghostbusters: Afterlife, we follow the story of Egon’s daughter, a single mom, and her two kids some 30 odd years after the events of the first film. The family heads out to a small town in the midwest. They move into a house left to them by the late scientist and paranormal investigator. The two kids don’t know about their grandfather’s history, but as strange things begin to happen, they discover their legacy. Just in time too.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife stars Rudd and Grace along with Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things), Carrie Coon, Logan Kim, and Celeste O’Connor. It will also feature Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, and Annie Potts all returning to play their classic roles from the original film. How much they will be in the film is not clear.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife will only be in theaters. See it beginning November 19.
