Demonic (2021)

Director Neill Blomkamp is taking his career in an all-new direction with his latest project, Demonic (2021). Blomkamp, best known for his big-budget sci-fi films like District 9 and Chappie, is dipping his toes into the horror genre for the first time with this smaller-scaled passion project that tells the story of a young woman who “unleashes terrifying demons when supernatural forces at the root of a decades-old rift between mother and daughter are ruthlessly revealed”.

Demonic stars Carly Pope, Chris William Martin, and Michael Rogers. The film is produced by Neill and Mike Blomkamp of STABILITI Studios alongside Stuart Ford and Linda McDonough of AGC Studios. Steven St. Arnaud, Alastair Burlingham, Charlie Dombek, Viktor Muller, and Miguel Palos Jr. are serving as executive producers on the film.

Demonic is currently set to release in theaters and on digital on August 20, 2021. Check out the trailer below!

Army Of Thieves (2021)

If you liked Zack Snyder’s zombie-heist film Army Of The Dead (2021) earlier this year, then you will be thrilled to hear there is a prequel already filmed and set to release sometime in the coming months! The next chapter in the overall Army Of The Dead universe, titled Army Of Thieves, is set before the events of the first film and sees the return of Matthias Schweighoefer as Ludwig Dieter.

In addition to starring, Schweighoefer is also directing the film based on a story by Zack Snyder, who serves as a producer on this film. Schweighoefer will be joined in Army Of Thieves by Nathalie Emmanuel, Ruby O’Fee, Stuart Martin, and Guztavo Khanage.

Army of Thieves is serving as the first of several new expansions into the Army Of The Dead universe, with an animated television series titled Army Of The Dead: Lost Vegas in production, and a proper sequel to the original film currently in development under Zack Snyder. The film is expected to release sometime later this year exclusively on Netflix. Check out the trailer below!

Dexter: New Blood (Season 9 Series Reboot)

It’s been just under a decade since Showtime’s slasher-drama Dexter left the air, but the vigilante killer of killers is back with a freshly rebooted new series, Dexter: New Blood! Showtime recently dropped the first trailer for the revival of their former hit, which is also being referred to as Dexter Season 9.

Dexter: New Blood is being planned as a 10-episode limited series that will see our titular hero (if you can call him that) Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) living in the fictional small town of Iron Lake in upstate New York about a decade after the events of the Season 8 series finale. Clancy Brown is set to join the series as Dexter’s latest antagonist. Joining him will be Julia Jones, Alano Miller, and Jamie Chung, as well as series veterans Jennifer Carpenter as Deb and John Lithgow as The Trinity Killer.

If you’re confused about the last two (spoiler alert, their characters were killed off previously in the series), you aren’t alone! It is expected that they will be appearing in minor cameo roles during either a flashback or a fantasy sequence. Considering James Remar’s “Harry” isn’t returning in any capacity, perhaps one of them could be taking up his pastime as Dexter’s conscious? Maybe even both of them, almost like an angel and a devil sitting on his proverbial shoulder.

Dexter: New Blood is set to premiere on Showtime on November 7, 2021. Check out the trailer below!

Day Of The Dead (New Series)

SyFy is bringing horror fans a new take on one of the genre’s most iconic films with their new series Day Of The Dead. Loosely based on the George A. Romero film of the same name, SyFy’s Day of The Dead series is set to focus on six strangers trying to survive during the first 24 hours of a zombie apocalypse.

Day Of The Dead stars Keenan Tracey, Daniel Doheny, Natalie Malaika, Kristy Dinsmore, Miranda Frigon, Mike Dopud, and Morgan Holmstrom. The series is being written by showrunners Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas, with Steven Kostanski executive producing the series.

SyFy’s Day of the Dead series will premiere this October exclusively on SyFy. Check out the trailer below!

Chapelwaite (New Series)

There have been countless adaptations of Stephen King’s works over the years, and thanks to the new EPIX series Chapelwaite, there will be at least one more!

The new 1850’s set gothic horror series is based on the short story Jerusalem’s Lot. The story isn’t as well known as some of King’s other works but serves as a prequel to the better-known story Salems Lot.

Chapelwaite tells the story of Captain Charles Boone (Adrien Brody) who relocates his family to his ancestral home following the death of his wife. But not everything is as it seems in the quiet town of Preacher’s Corners, Maine (of course it is set in Maine), and Boone will have to confront his ancestor’s past to save his family’s future.

Chapelwaite stars Adrien Brody,  Emily Hampshire, Jennifer Ens, Sirena Gulamgaus, Ian Ho, Trina Corkum, Gord Rand, and Julian Richings. The series is set to premiere on EPIX on August 22, 2021. Check out the trailer below!

U.F.O. (New Series)

Are we alone in the universe? This question has plagued mankind for centuries, and now Showtime and J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions are looking for answers with their new four-part docuseries, the appropriately titled U.F.O..

Inspired by a New York Times article from 2017 that revealed the Pentagon had secretly been tracking UFOs for years, this docuseries will explore the history of the phenomenon throughout history. UFO sightings have been happening all over the world for decades, and this series looks to further examine the available evidence to determine what might actually be out there.

U.F.O. comes from directors Mark Monroe and Paul Crowder, as the pair seeks answers to humanity’s fascination with the unknown. The series premiered this week on Showtime! Check out the trailer below.

That’s a wrap for this edition of Trailer Park! We hope you enjoyed these selections as much as we did! We’re sure we will be back for another trip to the park in no time.
