‘Doctor Who’ Series 13 Trailer: Her Biggest Adventure Yet

The Doctor (Jodie Whittaker) - Series 13

It’s been a rough year for everyone, what with the global epidemic. Luckily, the BBC has just what we need. A visit from the Doctor.

The first Doctor Who Series 13 trailer dropped today on the official Doctor Who Youtube Channel. The teaser, barely a minute long, hints at the upcoming season. A season described as “Her biggest adventure yet.” Does the teaser deliver? Well, that is up to you to decide. You can check it out right here:

As you can see, the trailer is high on action but short on details. We see the Doctor and her best mate Yaz (Mandip Gil). Joining the duo will be Dan Lewis, played by actor and comedian John Bishop who was introduced at the end of the 2021 holiday special, Resolution of the DaleksAlso joining the cast this year will be Jacob Anderson. Anderson, best known for his role as Grey Worm on Games of Thrones, plays Vinder.  You see him and Dan both acting incredulously to the world they’ve become part of with the Doctor. They join the cast after the departure of companions Graham and his grandson Ryan. Graham (Bradley Walsh) and Ryan (Tosin Cole) departed the series after two seasons.

The teaser doesn’t give too much information about when we can expect to see the new series hit our screens, other than “later this year.” Nor does it give much to go on for what we can expect to see.  Could the Master, the Daleks, or the Cybermen return?  Are we going to find out more about the Timeless Child or the Fugitive Doctor?   Will the Doctor be regenerating again?

The current rumor has Whittaker finishing out this season, which will only be 8 episodes long thanks to the shutdown caused by the pandemic.   Then she will appear in 2 specials slated for 2022 before relinquishing the role. To who is anyone’s guess.

Officially the BBC has not commented on the rumors.
