With just three weeks until Star Trek: Lower Decks returns, we now have an extended look at some of the crazy situations the crew of the USS Cerritos will find themselves in during Season 2!

According to the official description for the season, “Season Two of Star Trek: Lower Decks is bigger, funnier and Star Trekkier than ever before. Fans can expect strange new (and familiar) aliens to challenge the crews of the U.S.S. Cerritos and the U.S.S. Titan. For Mariner, Tendi, Rutherford, and Boimler, the animated adventure is just beginning.”

Check out the trailer below:

The trailer was part of Paramount+’s Comic-Con@Home “Peak” Animation programming block, which showcased the service’s upcoming animated series. Moderated by Jerry O’Connell (Commander Jack Ransom), the Star Trek: Lower Decks panel featured a conversation with voice cast members Tawny Newsome (Ensign Mariner), Jack Quaid (Ensign Boimler), and Eugene Cordero (Ensign Rutherford), as well as series creator, showrunner and executive producer, Mike McMahan, and a special greeting from Noël Wells (Ensign Tendi).

According to McMahan,

“We left a lot of bills to pay with characters, and with what was going on in the world. You know, we just keep at it. We were saying this earlier but there is a really great mix of serious Trek and silly Trek, because if you’re on a Starfleet ship, you don’t know if you’re going to encounter the Jem’Hadar or a guy who traps you in a game, you know what I mean? You’ll see some familiar faces, you’ll see a lot of new stuff. The Cerritos goes through some real rigamarole. I’m just excited for August.”

Paramount+ has already extended Star Trek: Lower Decks for a third season and is doubling down on more Star Trek animated shows (such as Star Trek Prodigy, the first Star Trek series aimed at a younger audience).

Star Trek: Lower Decks returns to Paramount+ in a few weeks for its second season, starting August 12.
