Ryan Murphy has confirmed that Danny Trejo will appear on an episode of American Horror Stories, the new anthology series coming to FX on Hulu later this year. Trejo will play Santa Claus! The incredibly prolific character actor is best known for roles in From Dusk Til Dawn, Machete, and Machete Kills. His most recent film appearance was in The House Next Door: Meet the Blacks 2.
In addition, Murphy confirmed that three more alumni of American Horror Story have joined the cast of Stories— Matt Bomer, Billie Lourd, and John Carroll Lynch. Bomer played Andy in Freakshow and Donovan in Hotel. He plays Michael on Stories. Lourd portrayed Winter Anderson in Cult, Mallory in Apocalypse, and Montana Duke in 1984. Her new character is Liv Whitley. Lynch may have the most iconic role of the trio, as he played the terrifying Twisty the Clown in Freakshow and Cult. He also appeared as John Wayne Gacy in Hotel and as Mr. Jingles, a.k.a. Benjamin Richter, in 1984. On Stories, his character will be named Larry Bitterman.
Sarah Paulson is confirmed to direct one episode of American Horror Stories. Fellow AHS alumni, Frances Conroy, Taissa Farmiga, Naomi Grossman, and Evan Peters are also going to appear, although we don’t know how many episodes they will be in, as each will be a stand-alone story, so it is entirely possible that actors could appear in multiple episodes in different roles. It’s also entirely possible (and likely) that these tales will connect to existing Story lore.
Previously announced newcomers to the American Horror brand include the legendary Anjelica Huston, plus Sierra McCormick (The Vast of Night) as Scarlett, Kaia Gerber (Cindy Crawford’s daughter) as Ruby, and Paris Jackson (Michael Jackson’s daughter) as Maya.
Murphy took the opportunity to announce more newbies– Aaron Tveit (The Good Fight) as Adam, Madison Bailey (Outer Banks) as Kelley, Gavin Creel (Broadway’s Hair) as Troy, newcomer Ashley Martin Carter as Rowena, Belissa Escobedo (Don’t Look Deeper) as Shanti, Rhenzy Feliz (Alex Wilder on Runaways) as Chad, Kyle Red Silverstein (Yellowstone) as Quinn, Amy Grabow (General Hospital) as real-life figure Tipper Gore, Dyllón Burnside (Murphy’s Pose) as James, Nico Greetham (Murphy’s Prom) as Zinn, Charles Melton (Riverdale) as Wyatt, Kevin McHale (Murphy’s Glee) as Barry, and Virginia Gardner (Karolina Dean in Runaways) as Bernadette. And Murphy added, “And this isn’t even the half of it.”
