‘The Suicide Squad’: Meet The New Team In This Early Access Do Not Share Trailer

An unlisted trailer that says “Early Access Trailer Do Not Share” gives us the latest sneak peek at James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, which will be released in theaters on August 6th of this year. The trailer shows off the comedic styling that Gunn is known for as well as a star-studded cast including Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, and John Cena.

The trailer also reveals who the main villain will be: Starro, a giant alien starfish that aims to take over the universe with asexual clones of itself. Starro was famously the first villain fought by the original Justice League in 1960. In The Suicide Squad, it looks like Starro, dubbed “Project Starfish” by Amanda Waller, has spread clones of itself and will create some fun havoc for the Squad to fight.

The trailer also provides more details about Bloodsport, and why he’s joining the Squad, and more details and footage of Weasel, a frighteningly large humanoid, bug-eyed creature that, according to the trailer, has a sizeable death count. The trailer also showcases color special effects with flowers surrounding Harley Quinn in a fight scene, Polka-Dot Man’s dots, and even a few sneak peeks of Starro that we can see.

The trailer also pokes fun at Gunn’s switch from Marvel to DC, mentioning how Gunn directed Guardians of the Galaxy, part of Marvel’s hugely popular Avenger’s franchise. The film is also executive produced by Zack Snyder, who saw a release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League earlier this year.

The release of the Snyder Cut and the refreshing of the Suicide Squad are huge moves for DC and Warner Brothers. Additionally, Snyder recently revealed an update on the Peacemaker TV show.

So far The Suicide Squad trailers have showcased humor, violence, and special effects. Catch it in theaters and on HBO Max on August 6th.
