In Space Jam: A New Legacy, those loony Looney Tunes are back at courtside. This time Bugs Bunny and company have to play a high stakes game with this generation’s GOAT (that’s the Greatest Of All Time) player LeBron James. They need to bring their A-Game. They’re playing to save James’ family and themselves from the villainous Al B Rhythm. (Don Cheadle).

Everything about this sequel has upped its game from the 1996 classic. The animation, drama, action, even the basketball looks amazing in this trailer. And since it’s easier to show you than tell you, here is the trailer below:

The fun starts when LeBron is animated to play with the Looney Tunes.  In the Toon world, it looks like everyone shows up to the game. Fans of the 60s and 70s Saturday morning cartoons show up like The Herculoids, JabberJaws, Rosie the Robot Maid from The Jetsons, Frankenstein Jr, among others. You also see Batman, Robin, Catwoman, and the Penguin from the 1960s Batman TV show as well as The Mask, The Iron Giant, and King Kong.

Along with Bugs Bunny, Space Jam: A New Legacy stars Daffy Duck, Lola Bunny, Porky Pig, Elmer Fudd, Yosemite Sam, Granny, Sylvester, Tweety, and all the rest of the Looney Tunes characters.  Besides James and Cheadle, the human cast includes Sonequa Martin-Green (Star Trek: Discovery), Khris Davis, and Cedric Joe. We can only hope Bill Murray comes in off the bench.  Malcolm D Lee (Girls Trip) directs the live-action/toon mash-up.

Space Jam: A New Legacy debuts in theatres and on HBO Max July 16. It will only be online for a limited time.
