Marvel Reveals Their Offerings For FCBD 2021

Free Comic Book Day is an annual event aimed at promoting comic book stores as the small businesses that they are and helping to give back to the comic readers who support them. Each year, usually the first Saturday in May, comic shops offer a specific lineup of comic books to their customers completely for free as a thank you for their business and support. Though the event was cancelled last year due to the coronavirus outbreak, it will resume this year, though on the slightly later date of August 14. To kick off the excitement, Marvel just announced a couple of the comics that will be available on Free Comic Book Day, and they certainly look exciting.

Though they only shared two comics, each title features some of Marvel’s most famous characters and contains two separate stories that will pave the way for the future of those characters.

The first comic is Avengers/Hulk. The issue features a cover by Ryan Ottley.

The second issue is Spider-Man/ and offers a stunning cover by Patrick Gleason.

From Marvel.com:

Crafted by some of the Marvel Universe’s chief architects including Jason Aaron, Chip Zdarsky, and many more surprises, and featuring art by superstars like Marvel’s Stormbreaker Iban Coello and Greg Smallwood, FREE COMIC BOOK DAY 2021: AVENGERS/HULK and FREE COMIC BOOK DAY 2021: SPIDER-MAN/VENOM will be must-haves for fans.

It is exciting to hear that Jason Aaron and Chip Zdarksy will be controlling the futures of these iconic characters, though it’s unclear just which writer is contributing to each title. Either way, both of these issues are sure to be exciting and I cannot wait to pick them up for myself.

Free Comic Book Day happens on August 14th, 2021. Be sure to check the store locator on the FCBD website to find a participating comic shop near you.
