It’s been a long wait, but Netflix’s The Witcher has finally wrapped its second season. The first dropped back in December of 2019, but like everything else, production had to shut down due to COVID-19.
The show’s official Twitter account marked the end of filming by posting this picture of star Henry Cavill, smiling in a way his character Geralt never will on the show.

Also, via Netflix’s Youtube channel, there’s a short making-of video hosted by showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich. There are no spoilers, but if you’ve been missing Geralt, Yennefer, Ciri, and Yaskier, this at least gives you a little tease to whet your appetite. (Keep in mind, Season 2 probably won’t arrive until December at the earliest.)
She also stated:
“We’re so proud of everything we’ve accomplished in Season 2 and we can’t wait for you to watch it. We cannot wait to show you what Geralt, and Ciri, and Yennefer, and Jaskier, and all of your favorites have been up to since we left them at the Battle of Sodden Hill. There are plenty of new characters and storylines, and of course, monsters, to explore as well, as we dig into the Blood of Elves and beyond.”
Keep in mind, a show as FX heavy as The Witcher requires a ton of post-production work, so that will take several months. It’s actually possible that we won’t get to see Season 2 until next year! (But let’s keep our fingers crossed.)
