The CW Presents A First Look At Eclipso From ‘Stargirl’ S2

The Injustice Society of America may have been tough, but Stargirl and her fledgling Justice Society may be facing an even deadlier threat in Eclipso! This sinister threat was teased at the end of Season 1, but he will be making his proper debut in Season 2.

Nick E. Tarabay, who played Captain Boomerang on Arrow, will portray Eclipso in Stargirl Season 2. (Keep in mind, Stargirl is not part of the Arrowverse, so this isn’t double-dipping.)

Just how deadly is Eclipso?  Well, in the comics, he killed Doctor Mid-Nite (Beth Chapel) and Wildcat (Yolanda Montez), the versions that are featured on the TV show. But… I seriously doubt the series will follow that precedent.

Stargirl was originally meant to be exclusive to DC Universe, but it seems that Warner Bros. knew that the niche streaming service was going to go away, especially with the larger HBO Max launching. So in an effort to give the series a higher profile, Season 1 was shared with The CW. Season 2 will be exclusive to The CW and its accompanying app.

The CW hasn’t announced when Stargirl Season 2 will launch beyond “this summer,” but it has released a first look at Tarabay in full Elipso drag which you can check out below (courtesy of TV Line):

Last summer, series creator Geoff Johns stated:

“Eclipso is one of my very favorite villains in the books and he’s somebody who in the comics actually killed Beth Chapel and Yolanda Montez — and they never came back, until recently. They were dead before I ever got into comics in the ’90s, but I brought them back at the end of Doomsday Clock. Eclipso is a really interesting character because he embodies darkness and corruption.”

Season 2 will also introduce Jonathan Cake as another mega-villain, The Shade, John Wesley Shipp as the JSA’s Flash, Jay Garrick (a role he previously played on The Flash), and Ysa Penarejo in an undisclosed role that is known to be an existing DC character.

In addition to playing Captain Boomerang on The Flash, Tarabay has appeared on The Sopranos, CSI: Miami, Crash, Spartacus and Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, Believe, Person of Interest, Longmire, The Expanse, Motherland: Fort Salem, and MacGyver, and in the movies Star Trek Into Darkness and Pacific Rim: Uprising.

Stargirl will return to The CW this summer some time.  Until then, check back for updates as they arrive!
