Stop Everything You’re Doing And Watch This Trailer For The New ‘TMNT’ Video Game

You’d be hard-pressed to find a 90s kid who doesn’t remember the 4-player Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game. I spent hours with my friends at the local batting cages playing that game, pumping quarter after quarter into the machine just to stop Shredder and Krang’s plan to bring Dimension X to Earth. For GenXers, it’s probably one of the most iconic video game cabinets, right alongside the 6-player, dual-screen X-Men game.

If you recall that game as fondly as I do, then you’re going to love the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenger video game from developer Tribute Games. Dotemu, the game’s publisher, recently announced the game by releasing a trailer on YouTube, featuring a few short clips of the gameplay as well as a new animated remake of the classic theme song from the cartoon with vocals from Faith No More’s Mike Patton. Check out the full video above!

Dotemu also provided a short synopsis of the game:

With Bebop and Rocksteady amassing gizmos to support Krang and Shredder’s latest scheme, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge finds the turtles battling through a breathless tour of iconic TMNT locations to thwart their nemeses’ most diabolical plan yet. Armed with shell-shocking new abilities built on a foundation of classic brawling mechanics, the gang are in for an exhilarating, Foot Clan-stomping romp leading them through the sewers and bustling boroughs of New York City all the way to Dimension X.

As is evidenced by the trailer, the game is a side-scrolling beat-em-up in the same vein as the classic arcade game and its sequel, Turtles in Time. Up to four players take control of each of the turtles and take on some of the iconic enemies; though the trailer only shows off Bebop, Rocksteady, and the Foot Clan ninjas, I would have to assume Shredder makes an appearance at some point, hence his “revenge.” Even the game’s music is reminiscent of the original arcade games while tipping its hat to the animated series as well.

As someone with an immense fondness for TMNT, I am super hyped for this game. Unfortunately, no release date has been set yet for Shredder’s Revenge, nor has there been any specified consoles, although it is expected to hit PC platforms.
