Heh heh – They said comeback – Heh heh.  The iconic 90’s MTV duo Beavis & Butthead will be returning in a new feature-length film, coming to the rebranded Paramount+ streaming service in 2021.

In case you don’t remember or weren’t old enough for the first time, Beavis and Butthead were an animated pair of teenaged miscreants who loved heavy metal, watching TV, and laughing. A lot of laughing. Created by Mike Judge (Office Space, Idiocracy) in 1992, the pair first appeared in the 3-minute cartoon, Frog BaseballThe short was part of the Sick and Twisted Festival of Animation.  MTV screened the short on its animation anthology, Liquid Television, before picking it up a series.

For seven seasons the duo of underachieving dimwits laughed at everything and everyone they met. If someone said anything that could be taken in a sexual manner, they would laugh uncontrollably whether it was at school, their job at a fast-food joint, or while doing their favorite thing, watching TV.

The pair also rocked and mocked music videos from their couch. (Back then most shows on MTV still had to have music videos in them). The slack-jawed morons loved metal and hard rock and would air guitar through their favorites. And when they would come across more standard pop, they would make fun of it mercilessly.

For a while, they were the arbiters of cool and suck when it came to music videos in the early 1990s. The two became so popular, that they got their own movie, 1996’s Beavis and Butthead Do America. Last year Comedy Central announced a new series featuring the duo, committing to 2 seasons. The basic cable network is part of Viacom, which also owns Paramount+.

The duo joins the 21st century, using Zoom to announce their new, as of yet untitled, movie coming to the Paramount+.   See it below.

The two are light on the details. No word on when we can expect the film, or if we can expect any other classic MTV animated fare, like Beavis and Butthead spinoff Daria, slick sci-fi Aeon Flux, or Image Comics series The Maxx.

The classic Beavis and Butthead series will stream on Paramount+ when it launches on March 4.
