While the upcoming legacy-sequel to the Ghostbusters franchise, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, isn’t due out until June, it looks like some of the film’s first marketing materials are going to be haunting store shelves much sooner!
This week we received confirmation of some super fun new Ghostbusters themed Twinkies from Hostess! These were first rumored nearly a year ago, but as Ghostbusters: Afterlife saw its release delayed, it looks like these delicious looking snack cakes also got put on the backburner until we had a firm release date for the film. Now that the film is set to release in the coming months, these Twinkies look to be heading our way sooner rather than later!
An online listing for the new Ghostbusters Munch Madness Twinkies recently went up on Farm and Fleet that showcases the packaging for these new delectable delights and the only thing that has us spooked is how much we are going to crave these limited edition treats once they are gone!
In addition to the themed name and packaging, these Ghostbusters Munch Madness Twinkies also feature some unique blue cream filling. The filling is “fruit-flavored”, but the packaging doesn’t specify what fruit it is meant to taste like. It’s odd to see a Ghostbusters themed snack with blue coloration rather than the usual Slimer shade of bright green, but it is said to be a reference to Muncher, an all-new ghost we will be meeting when Ghostbusters: Afterlife finally releases.
This is just the first of what we hope to be many new Ghostbusters themed limited release snacks we can look forward to. When Ghostbusters: Answer The Call released in 2016 we were treated to a number of unique snacks and a widely celebrated re-release of the legendary Ecto-Cooler Hi-C fruit juice drink. Hopefully, we will see an equally big push of fun new treats to celebrate the release of Ghostbusters: Afterlife as well. All we know for now is that these new Ghostbusters Munch Madness Twinkies are sure to haunt your taste buds once they’re gone!
Ghostbusters: Afterlife from director Jason Reitman stars Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Carrie Coon, Paul Rudd, Bokeem Woodbine, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, and Annie Potts. The film was originally set to release on July 10, 2020, but was delayed by almost a full year due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. It is currently set to release on June 11, 2021.
