‘Avengers: Endgame’ left the Marvel Cinematic Universe changed forever. While some of our favorite heroes didn’t make it out of the epic Infinity Saga finale alive, Chris Evans’ Captain America was among those left living when the dust had settled. However, in a 2019 interview with co-star Scarlett Johansson for the ‘Variety Studios: Actors on Actors’ series, the actor basically said that he was done playing Steve Rogers for a while since “they did a really nice job letting him complete his journey”. But as we all know, “a while” isn’t really a long time in Hollywood.
According to Deadline, Evans is currently in talks to reprise his role as the Star Spangled Man in a future Marvel Studios production. Their sources say that Cap could make one or two more appearances, but they’re unlikely to be in additional solo films. Instead, the character will probably follow a similar path to Tony Stark, who went on to pop up in ‘Captain America: Civil War’ and ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ after his third Iron Man movie.
Does this mean that Old Man Rogers could show up in season two of ‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’? Maybe Doctor Strange and the Scarlet Witch will cross paths with a wartime Rogers on an adventure with the Howling Commandos in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’. Or better yet, what if we get a Captain America from an alternate universe? The possibilities are pretty endless at this point. You never know what Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has up his sleeve, but whatever it is, it’s sure to be exciting.
