The gigantic lizard kaiju Godzilla, well known as the “King Of The Monsters,” is looking to next take dominion over a whole different world: vinyl record collecting!

Waxwork Records has announced their new kaiju sized Godzilla vinyl box set, titled Godzilla: The Showa Era Soundtracks 1954-1975. The box set contains all fifteen of the classic Showa Era Godzilla soundtracks across eighteen 180 gram colored vinyl discs.

This is the first time these soundtracks have been collected on vinyl, making it quite the collector’s item for fans! Each of the fifteen vinyl soundtracks features remastered audio and new artwork by artist Robert Sammelin. Did we mention that the box set also includes a fancy turntable slipmat?

The Godzilla: The Showa Era Soundtracks 1954-1975 collection box set includes the following classic Godzilla soundtracks:

  • Godzilla (1954)
  • Godzilla Raids Again (1955)
  • King Kong vs. Godzilla (1963) 2xLP
  • Mothra vs. Godzilla (1964) 2xLP
  • Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster (1964)
  • Invasion of Astro-Monster (1965)
  • Ebirah, Horror of the Deep (1966)
  • Son of Godzilla (1967)
  • Destroy All Monsters (1968)
  • All Monsters Attack (1969)
  • Godzilla vs. Hedorah (1971)
  • Godzilla vs. Gigan (1972) 2xLP
  • Godzilla vs. Megalon (1973)
  • Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (1974)
  • Terror of Mechagodzilla (1975)

The only downside of this beautifully put together box set is the Godzilla sized price tag, which comes in at $450. While this may sound like a lot, when you do the math, it really only comes out to $30 per soundtrack, which is pretty standard for most modern vinyl pressings. Factoring in that all of these have been remastered for this release, plus the all-new artwork and the other features of the box-set itself, it definitely seems like a fair price for so much great content!
