After changing things up for Season 2, it appears that Charmed will be getting back to its roots in Season 3.  Under new co-showrunners Elizabeth Kruger and Craig Shapiro, The CW’s witchy drama shifted its focus to more sci-fi/fantasy action and away from the family dynamic between the three sisters– Macy Vaughn (Madeleine Mantock), Mel Vera (Melonie Diaz), and Maggie Vera (Sarah Jeffery).  The series also stars Rupert Evans as Harry Greenwood, the sisters’ Whitelighter.

COVID-19 resulted in S2 being cut short from 22 episodes to only 19.  Presumably, elements from the unfilmed episodes will be integrated into the beginning of S3.  Filming for S3 began on September 30, 2020, and is expected to continue into May.  The first new episode will air on January 24, 2021.

Check out the trailer for S3 below:

At the end of season two, the Charmed Ones and the magical world find themselves in certain peril as Julian affirmed to Aunt Vivienne that “whatever it takes,” he would bring her Macy (Madeleine Mantock). Meanwhile, Harry (Rupert Evans) and Macy’s newly cemented romance hangs in the balance after Harry asked Maggie (Sarah Jeffery) to use her new power to change his feelings for her sister. With Mel’s (Melonie Diaz) relationship with Ruby at an impasse, will Mel ever find true love? And is the destruction of the sisterhood inevitable, or will the Charmed Ones conquer the Conqueror? The answers to these questions will unfold in season three and chart a whole new journey for the Charmed Ones as Maggie pursues her career ambitions, Macy returns to her science roots, and Mel’s activism is reignited.

Season 2 also starred Jordan Donica as Jordan Chase, and Poppy Drayton as Abigael Jameson-Caine, with Nick Hargrove, Shiva Kalaiselvan, and Eric Balfour in recurring roles.

Once again, Charmed will return to The CW with new episodes on Sunday, January 24, 2021.  Like all CW shows, the episodes will be available to stream the next day on the network’s free app.
