While most of the films in Disney and Marvel Studios Marvel Cinematic Universe have plenty of jokes and lighthearted fun peppered in, it looks like Marvel Studios is finally heading full on into the comedy world with their new She-Hulk series for the Disney+ streaming service!

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige recently spoke to Emmy Magazine where he briefly talked about the upcoming series. Feige was quick to clarify that She-Hulk is being planned as a half-hour legal comedy, marking Marvel’s first real foray into the subgenre. While all the films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have had a few laughs along the way, Marvel has never really leaned hard into comedy as the lead genre for a project. The majority of the other series in development at Marvel Studios like The Falcon And The Winter Soldier, Wandavision, and Loki have all followed the hour-long drama format, so She-Hulk could be an absolute game changer as to what kind of content fans can expect to see coming from Marvel in the future.

As recently announced at the Disney Investors Day presentation, the series will star Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) as our titular emerald heroine, Lawyer Jennifer Walters, better known to comic book fans as She-Hulk! Maslany will be joined in the series by MCU stars Mark Ruffalo and Tim Roth, who Marvel fans will already know as The Hulk and The Abomination. Ruffalo has been rumored to be involved with the series for some time, while Roth is certainly an interesting addition to the cast. Roth’s character, The Abomination, hasn’t been shown on screen in over a decade; having last appeared in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk opposite Edward Norton’s Hulk before Ruffalo had even taken over the role.

Maslany excitedly responded to Feige making the announcement with a post to her personal Instagram account confirming that her casting was “offishulk” along with some comic book art of the She-Hulk character.  You can check out her post below!

While the show is officially in development and is likely shooting in 2021, She-Hulk does not currently have a release date available. All we know is that the show is definitely coming, and will eventually launch on the Disney+ streaming service.
