‘She-Hulk’ Supporting Roles Potentially Revealed

As 2020 finally starts winding down, we’re getting closer and closer to the sensational She-Hulk’s debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Announced back in 2019 at the D23 Expo, Bruce Banner’s cousin will be starring in her very own live-action series on Disney+. However, accomplished lawyer/superhero Jennifer Walters won’t be alone when cameras start to roll in March 2021.

According to sources close to The Illuminerdi, Marvel Studios’ She-Hulk is currently casting five supporting roles. First, the production helmed by showrunner Jessica Gao of ‘Rick & Morty’ fame is looking for the Jade Giantess’ 60-ish year old parents. Next, they want a late 20s-30s male co-worker that is “sweet, earnest, handsome in a John Krasinski sort of way”. He’ll probably be seen in whatever law firm Walters finds herself attached to. (Although, it probably won’t be Nelson & Murdock.)

In what is probably a more high profile part, the show is looking for Jennifer’s best friend as well. Currently codenamed “Susie”, the report states that they’re looking for a 30-something BIPOC for the role, but are leaning towards an Asian American performer. It also emphasizes that “comedy chops are listed as essential” for this role. Thankfully, Hollywood is filled with extremely talented Asian American women that are looking for their big break. But if they’re looking for someone more established, Awkwafina or ‘Pen 15’ star Maya Erskine are two hilarious stars that come to our minds immediately.

Finally, She-Hulk is looking for its villain. The female antagonist in her 30s goes by “Lucy” for now and is described as “a glamorous social media influencer, Kardashian-esque with a dark side”. As you could probably guess, this big bad will play an integral part in the show and “promises to be one of the biggest characters” in She-Hulk’s rogues gallery.

Maise Brewn from ‘HULK’ (2017) by Mariko Tamaki, Matt Milla, and Nico Leon

Based on that guarantee, there’s a good chance that this could be a reimagined version of Titania, who is widely regarded as She-Hulk’s arch-nemesis. She has a great hatred for our incredible heroine and was imbued with superpowers by Doctor Doom during the seminal 1984 Marvel Comics crossover Secret Wars.

However, judging by the description provided, it sounds like a take on Maise Brewn from Mariko Tamaki, Matt Milla, and Nico Leon’s 2017 run on Hulk. Following Civil War II, Maise was Jennifer’s first client. After an assassination attempt by her business partner, the formerly cheerful yoga instructor gained healing powers and a shadowy creature to protect her thanks to Terrigenesis. Yoga instructor and social media influencer are often interchangeable these days, so it wouldn’t be that big of a stretch.

Whoever lands these roles is rumored to star alongside Orphan Black and Perry Mason star Tatiana Maslany as She-Hulk. Though Deadline reported that she would be the lead, Maslany denied the news while speaking to the Regina Leader-Post. But regardless of whether these reports are true or not, we’re bound to get an official word from the House of Ideas very soon since the pre-production phase is rapidly wrapping up.

What do you think about these possible supporting roles in She-Hulk? Do any actors or actresses come to mind when you hear these descriptions? And who do you think will be Jennifer Walters’ main villain in this Disney+ show? Let us know in the comments below.
