It is been just over a year since The Mandalorian debuted on Disney+.  Since then there has been only one name on everyone’s lips.

Baby Yoda

When were introduced to him, he was officially called “The Child”.  But since the adorable green elf made his debut, the only name anyone talking around the watercooler called him was Baby Yoda.

Well now, after the 13th chapter, “The Jedi” dropped this weekend, he finally has a name of his own.

Grogu.

Wait, what? <double checks>

Yeah –  Grogu.

Gleaned from his mind by Ahsoka Tano, (in live action for the first time, played by Rosario Dawson) the episode’s eponymous Jedi, we find out a bit of Grogu’s mysterious past.

He was raised at the Jedi Temple in Coruscant. Many masters trained him over the years. At the end of the Clone Wars, when the Empire rose to power, he was hidden. Someone took him from the temple. Then his memory becomes… dark.

He seemed lost.  Alone

While I doubt most casual fans will stop calling him Baby Yoda, it is good that the Child finally has an identity of his own.  As he grows, it will allow him to have his own story, separate from those who came before.

Oh and if Grogu, and the appearance of Ahsoka wasn’t enough, chapter 13 also guest starred Michael Biehn (Reese from the original Terminator) as hired gun, Lang.  We also find out what Ahsoka is doing with her time.   She is hunting Grand Admiral Thrawn.

But that is a different story.
