He-Man And The Masters Of The Universe (New Series 2021)

While we already had a blast revisiting the Masters Of The Universe brand with Kevin Smith’s Masters Of The Universe: Revelation earlier this summer on Netflix, the streaming giant still has one more trick up their sleeve in their partnership with toymaker Mattel! Netflix recently dropped the full trailer for their other animated Masters Of The Universe series, which is appropriately titled He-Man And The Masters Of The Universe!

While Masters Of The Universe: Revelation was more of a sequel to the original 1980s series, He-Man And The Masters Of The Universe is a new take on the classic franchise that is geared towards younger audiences and reboots the brand for a whole new generation. It is meant to be a fun new version of the series for kids to be able to enjoy these classic characters, creating a whole new audience of fans. The series synopsis is below:

On the planet of Eternia, a young lost prince discovers the powers of Grayskull and transforms into He-Man, Master of the Universe! The classic battle between He-Man and evil Skeletor rages to new heights as both hero and villain forge new and mighty teams. A new generation of heroes fighting for the fate of us all. In the end, who will become MASTER OF THE UNIVERSE?

He-Man And The Masters Of The Universe is being animated by House Of Cool and CGCG. The series premieres later this week on September 16, 2021, only on Netflix! Check out the trailer below!

Nightbooks (2021)

As the spooky scary Halloween season looms over us, the team at Netflix has prepared some all-new frightful family fun with their latest film, Nightbooks! Based on the book of the same name by J.A. White, Nightbooks tells the story of several children trapped in an apartment with an evil witch (who appears to be devilishly portrayed by Krysten Ritter). The official synopsis of the film reads as follows:

Alex (Winslow Fegley) is a creative boy with a strong passion for writing scary stories. But when he’s labeled weird and rejected for what he likes, he swears he’ll never write again. That’s when an evil witch (Krysten Ritter), captures him in her magical apartment in New York City and demands that he tell her a new tale every night if he wants to stay alive. Trapped inside with Lenore, the witch’s spiteful cat watching his every move, Alex meets Yasmin (Lidya Jewett), another young prisoner who has learned how to survive the witch’s wicked whims. With Yasmin’s help, Alex must learn to embrace what makes him unique – his love for scary stories – and rewrite his own destiny to break them free.

Nightbooks is directed by David Yarovesky (who previously directed the horrifying super-hero thriller Brightburn) with Sam Raimi, Romel Adam, Mason Novick, and Michelle Knudson producing. The film is set to premiere later this week on September 15, 2021, exclusively on Netflix! Check out the trailer below.

Maya And The Three (Miniseries Event 2021)

In a world where we recently had hit films like Mulan (2020) and Raya And The Last Dragon (2021), the world simply can’t get enough of kickass heroic action princesses! And why should they? These animated heroines are the perfect strong female role models for little girls everywhere, and now they’re about to be joined by yet another one with Netflix’s new animated miniseries event Maya And The Three!

This all-new nine-part miniseries event comes from visionary director Jorge R. Gutiérrez, who was the mastermind behind the stunning animated hit The Book of Life (2014). Maya And The Three tells the story of Maya, a warrior princess who is just about to celebrate her 15th birthday. The film is set in a fantastical fictional world that is an amalgamation of Aztec, Inca, and Mayan mythology along with elements of Caribbean culture. The miniseries synopsis from Netflix reads:

In a fantastical world, where magic turns the world and four kingdoms rule the lands, a brave and rebellious warrior princess named Maya is about to celebrate her fifteenth birthday and coronation. But everything changes when the gods of the underworld arrive and announce that Maya’s life is forfeit to the God of War — a price she must pay for her family’s secret past. If Maya refuses, the whole world will suffer the gods’ vengeance. To save her beloved family, her friends, and her own life, Maya embarks on a thrilling quest to fulfill an ancient prophecy that foretells the coming of three great warriors who will help her defeat the gods and save humankind.

In addition to the incredible talent behind the camera, Maya And The Three also boasts an absolutely astounding voice cast including Zoe Saldaña, Gabriel Iglesias, Allen Maldonado, Stephanie Beatriz, Diego Luna, Danny Trejo, Cheech Marin, Gael García Bernal, Joaquín Cosío, Alfred Molina, Kate del Castillo, Rita Moreno, Rosie Perez, Queen Latifah, Wyclef Jean, Jorge R. Gutiérrez, Sandra Equihua, Isabela Merced, Chelsea Rendon,  Carlos Alazraqui, and Eric Bauza. The series is set to release exclusively on Netflix later this fall. Check out the trailer below!

The Foundation (New Series 2021)

While writer Isaac Asimov has contributed countless works to the science fiction genre, very few have ever been adapted for the screen. This fall AppleTV+ and David S. Goyer are hoping to break the mold with their new television adaptation of his massively popular Foundation trilogy. The 10-episode first season of the series is set to bring this tale of galactic rebellion to life like nothing that has come before. The series synopsis reads:

When revolutionary Dr. Hari Seldon predicts the impending fall of the Empire, he and a band of loyal followers venture to the far reaches of the galaxy to establish The Foundation in an attempt to rebuild and preserve the future of civilization. Enraged by Hari’s claims, the ruling Cleons — a long line of emperor clones — fear their unrivaled reign may be weakening as they’re forced to reckon with the potential reality of losing their powerful legacy forever.

The Foundation stars Jared Harris, Lee Pace, Laura Birn, Leah Harvey, Lou Llobell, Cassian Bilton, Terrance Mann, and Alfred Enoch. The series is executive produced by Robyn Asimov, Cameron Welsh, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Bill Bost, and series creators Josh Friedman and David S. Goyer. Goyer is also serving as the showrunner on the series, which is set to premiere exclusively on Apple TV+ on September 24, 2021. Check out the trailer below!

The Lost Symbol (New Series 2021)

While the film series based on the Dan Brown books starring Tom Hanks may have come to an end, that doesn’t mean that the entertainment world is quite done with Brown’s iconic mystery solver Robert Langdon! Thanks to the Peacock streaming service, fans can look forward to an all-new television series based on Brown’s work titled The Lost Symbol.

The new series will follow the adventures of a young Robert Langdon, with Ashley Zuckerman taking over the role from Tom Hanks for the show. While Zuckerman is a popular up-and-comer on the scene after his recent turn in Netflix’s Fear Street trilogy, does he have what it takes to replace the legendary Tom Hanks in this role after three feature films? Only time will tell for sure. Hopefully, the brand association will be enough of a draw for audiences when The Lost Symbol show premieres later this week on September 16, 2021 exclusively on Peacock. Check out the trailer below!

To The Journey: Looking Back on Star Trek: Voyager (2022?)

The team at 455 Films has released a new sneak peek at their upcoming documentary To The Journey: Looking Back on Star Trek: Voyager! This crowdfunded documentary comes from the team that produced What We Left Behind: Looking Back at Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, which means fans have a pretty good idea of what to expect from the project already.

The crowdfunding project was first launched via Indiegogo in early 2021 and went on to become the most successful crowdfunded documentary project in the history of the platform. Thanks to this, the crew at 455 Films plans to remaster Star Trek: Voyager footage into high definition for the documentary, plus a few other surprises fans are sure to enjoy! The documentary campaign page provides a project synopsis:

It’s been over 25 years since Voyager first got lost in the Delta Quadrant and took us all on an incredible seven-year journey. It is now time to revisit, celebrate, and fully explore what made this Star Trek series so special. The cast and crew of this groundbreaking show deserve the highest recognition, and with your help, we are going to make happen!

We are still in the early stages of production with more interviews and support footage yet to be filmed. Once that is complete, Post-Production expenses will need to be covered such as editing, music, animation, color-correction, sound mixing and CBS/Star Trek footage licensing. The more we raise on this Indiegogo campaign, the more creative ways we have of making this documentary unique.

Special guests for To The Journey: Looking Back on Star Trek: Voyager include Kate Mulgrew, Jeri Ryan, Robert Picardo, Roxann Dawson, Ethan Phillips, Robert Beltran, Tim Russ, and Garrett Wang from the classic series. Additional Star Trek alumni set to appear including George Takei, Mary Chieffo, Armin Shimmerman, Jeffrey Combs, and Andrew Robinson. Currently, there is no set release date for this documentary, but in the meantime, you can catch up on the complete series of Star Trek: Voyager on Paramount+! Check out the new sneak peek below!

That’s a wrap for this edition of Trailer Park! We hope you enjoyed these selections as much as we did! We’re sure we will be back for another trip to the park in no time.
