Paranormal Activity: Next Of Kin (2021)

Let’s face it, we all knew it was only a matter of time before we got another Paranormal Activity movie right? It’s been six years since we last saw a new entry in the found-footage horror franchise, but all that is set to change this Halloween with Paranormal Activity: Next Of Kin. After taking a bit of a breather, Paramount is looking to revitalize the Paranormal Activity brand that dominated the box office from 2007 through 2015. Paranormal Activity: Next Of Kin isn’t a direct sequel to the previous films, but rather a spiritual successor that takes the series in a new direction.

The first trailer for the new film just dropped and while it retains the found footage format, it looks to have retained little else! We are introduced to yet another new protagonist and shown glimpses of what appears to be some kind of cult with a massive hole in the ground. The movie almost looks like it is set in the past, but as there wouldn’t have been handheld cameras available that wouldn’t make sense, so it would have to be some other unique situation. We are getting some serious Midsommar vibes here!

Paranormal Activity: Next Of Kin stars Emily Bader Roland Buck III, Dan Lippert, and Henry Ayers-Brown with William Eubank directing a script written by Christopher Landon. As Landon has written the majority of the previous Paranormal Activity Films ( including Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, and The Marked Ones spinoff project) he certainly seems like the right person for the job here. The film is set to premiere exclusively on the Paramount+ subscription streaming service on October 29, 2021! You can check out the trailer below.

I Know What You Did Last Summer (New Series)

If there is one major takeaway from the classic I Know What You Did Last Summer slasher franchise, it’s that the past always comes back to haunt you. This fall Amazon is bringing us a new take on an old favorite from our past with a new television adaptation of the fan-favorite I Know What You Did Last Summer brand.

The series synopsis reads “One year after the fatal car accident that haunted their graduation night, a group of teenagers find themselves bound together by a dark secret and stalked by a brutal killer”.

It sounds like the series is taking a lot of cues from the original film’s story, so it should be interesting to see how they stretch that plot out across the full season of the new show. Amazon’s I Know What You Did Last Summer stars Madison Iseman, Bill Heck, Brianne Tju, Ezekiel Goodman, Ashley Moore, Sebastian Amoruso, Fiona Rene, Cassie Beck, and Brooke Bloom.

You can catch the first four episodes of the new series when they premiere next week on October 15, 2021! New episodes will be dropping weekly every Friday following until the season finale on November 12, 2021. Check out the trailer below!

Invasion (New Series)

The team at Apple TV+ is ready to bring viewers an all-new alien invasion experience told from the perspective of people from all different walks of life all across our world. Their new 10-episode sci-fi series, Invasion, comes from producers Simon Kinberg and David Well and tells the story of an alien invasion through the eyes of different people all over the planet.

Invasion features a strong cast that includes Sam Neill, Shamier Anderson, Firas Nassar, Golshifteh Farahani, and Shioli Kutsuna. The first three episodes of the new series are set to drop exclusively on Apple TV+ on October 22, 2021, with another new episode to follow weekly on Fridays. Check out the trailer below!

The Muppets Haunted Mansion (2021)

After nearly half a century as pop culture icons, Jim Henson’s The Muppets are finally getting their very own Halloween special with The Muppets Haunted Mansion! They’ve had plenty of holiday specials and film projects over the years, but this is the very first time they’ve celebrated everyone’s favorite spooktacular season outside of the odd episode or two of their various television series.

The new Muppets Haunted Mansion Halloween special is set to be jam-packed with original songs (and a cover or two), spooky callbacks to the iconic Disney ride The Haunted Mansion (which the special is themed around), plenty of special guests from all across the entertainment industry, and more of your favorite Muppets characters than you can shake a jack-o-lantern at! Our usual cast of fan-favorite Muppets like Kermit, Piggy, and Gonzo will be joined by a star-studded cast including Will Arnett, Yvette Nicole Brown, Darren Criss, and Taraji P. Henson with guest appearances from Danny Trejo, Craig Robinson, Pat Sajak, Chrissy Metz, Alfonso Ribiero, and even the late Ed Asner among others.

The synopsis for Muppets Haunted Mansion describes the project as:

In Muppets Haunted Mansion the Great Gonzo – world-famous daredevil artiste, has done it all, seen it all, and survived it all. But on Halloween night, the fearless Gonzo takes on the greatest challenge of his life by spending one very daring night in the most grim grinning place on Earth… The Haunted Mansion.

The Muppets Haunted Mansion Halloween Special is set to premiere exclusively on Disney+ on October 8, 2021. Check out the trailer below!

Locke & Key (Season 2)

Netflix’s sleeper hit comic book adaptation Locke & Key is set to return for a second season later this month and the first trailer has arrived! Based on the graphic novel series of the same name from Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez, Locke & Key tells the story of three siblings and their mother who move into Keyhouse; the ancestral home of their recently deceased father. They quickly discover that their new home is full of magical keys that imbue each of them with unique powers, and that may have been involved with the death of their father.

The mystery-filled series 10-episode first season premiered February 2020 on the Netflix streaming service to a warm reception from audiences that tuned in. Locke & Key stars Darby Stanchfield, Connor Jessup, Emilia Jones, Jackson Robert Scott, Petrice Jones, Bill Heck, Thomas Mitchell Barnett, Coby Bird, Jesse Camacho, Asha Bromfield, Griffin Gluck, Halle Jones, Aaron Ashmore, Liyuo Abere, and Brendan Hines.

Locke & Key Season 2 will premiere on the Netflix subscription streaming service on October 22, 2021. You can check out the Season 2 trailer below!

DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow (Season 7)

While we only wrapped up the show’s sixth season a few weeks back, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is already set to return with its all-new seventh season! The CW has released a trailer for the new season of this long-running corner of the Arrowverse that focuses on a squad of time-traveling heroes.

The Season 6 finale saw the team save the world from an alien invasion before saying a final farewell to two of their own as both John Constantine (Matt Ryan) and founding member Mick Rory (Dominic Purcell) departed the team seemingly for good. On their way back home, the team finds themselves under attack by what looks to be another version of their ship The Waverider, which sees them stranded in the year 1925. Will the team ever be able to get home? Their only hope may come in the form of an eccentric scientist named Dr. Gwyn Davies (who is an all-new character that will be portrayed by Matt Ryan who previously played John Constantine on the series).

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will return for its seventh season on October 13th. 2021. Check out the trailer below!
