Fans have known that Disney’s Hawkeye streaming series was set to release sometime later this year, but Disney and Marvel have long been quiet as to when we might actually see the show. Months after the series finished filming, Disney has finally dropped a trailer for the Marvel Studios streaming series that will now officially be coming to Disney+ this November.

Hawkeye may be looking at becoming a perennial classic to rewatch year after year, as it looks to be heavily holiday-themed and full of Christmas spirit. Our titular hero himself, Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton (AKA Hawkeye) is doing his best to get home for the holidays and to clean up the mess he left behind during the blip. Check out the trailer below!

What’s that? You don’t remember any mess? You thought that Clint had survived the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019) and reunited with his family after bringing them back from the events of ‘The Snap’ alongside his fellow Avengers? Well yes, that is true. But during that five-year window of time that they were gone, Clint went on a killing spree as the masked vigilante Ronin, taking out any and all remaining criminals he could find under the misguided dark path of “why should you get to live if you’re a horrible person while my family was snapped out of existence?”. So as much as Clint wants to move on with his life now that he has his family back, things are never quite that simple and he has several enemies to take care of and issues to resolve before he can truly go back home.

To make things even more complicated, someone else looks to have taken up his old Ronin costume (and hobbies) in New York City, which brings a target right back onto Clint’s head. When he heads to New York to investigate he discovers that the person taking over for him is… a teenage girl? Far from what he expected, Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) introduces herself as “the world’s greatest archer” and the adventures begin with Clint and Kate taking on Clint’s old foes. But will they be done soon enough for Clint to make it back home to celebrate Christmas with his recently returned family?

From the looks of things, Kate has a lot to learn, and Clint is at a point where he seems like he would be more than happy to hand off the Hawkeye mantle and retire to suburban life with his wife and kids. Considering Jeremy Renner has been with the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a decade now since his debut in Thor (2011), it wouldn’t surprise us if this series was meant as one last adventure with the hero before he rides off into the proverbial sunset and allows Hailee Steinfeld to take up the reigns.

For pretty obvious reasons, the series looks to largely be taking its cues from the fan-favorite Matt Fraction and David Aja Hawkeye comic book series where Clint and Kate were first brought together. When you factor in the amount of love that particular run gets from Marvel fans, it seems like the perfect choice to adapt for this live-action series. While we haven’t seen him in the trailer, the latest poster for the series officially confirms that the other star of Fraction and Aja’s Hawkeye run, Pizza Dog, will in fact be present and accounted for on the show (which is all that REALLY matters).

Marvel Studios’ Hawkeye stars Jeremy Renner, Hailee Steinfeld, Florence Pugh, Vera Farmiga, Zahn McClarnon, Brian d’Arcy James, and Tony Dalton. While not confirmed, Linda Cardellini is expected to make an appearance in the series as well (considering she plays Clint’s wife in the MCU, that would make sense?). The series is officially set to premiere on November 24, 2021, exclusively on Disney+.
