We feel confident in our stance that Rob Reiner’s The Princess Bride (1987) is one of the most beloved cinematic masterpieces of all time. You can feel free to disagree with that, but to do so would be generally inconceivable (see what we did there?). Todd McFarlane and the team at McFarlane Toys also seem to think that the film has a pretty strong fanbase, which is why they’ve launched an all-new action figure line based on the cult classic film.

Somehow, in its three-and-a-half decades of existence, there have never really been toys made for The Princess Bride! Aside from a relatively recent series of Funko POP! Vinyls, there haven’t been Princess Bride collectibles anywhere on the market — and there definitely haven’t been articulated action figures made before! That is why this new line from McFarlane Toys is so exciting!

The first wave of figures thankfully gives us most of the heavy hitters for this movie, with Wesley (AKA The Dread Pirate Roberts), Princess Buttercup, Inigo Montoya, and a deluxe Fezzik figure. While that still leaves a few major characters that collectors will undoubtedly want to see figures of, it ensures that if the line stops after one wave we still have a pretty solid lineup of characters.

That said, our fingers are crossed for Humperdink, Vizzini, Count Rugen, and The Albino for a potential second wave, with hopes for a Miracle Max and Valerie 2-pack… and maybe a convention exclusive set of Fred Savage and Peter Falk’s Grandson and Grandfather? What can we say? We’re fans.

McFarlane Toy’s The Princess Bride Series 1 figures are officially up for pre-order now with a planned November release date! Be sure to preorder them using the links below to ensure you don’t miss out on these. They will likely be an especially hot item this holiday season. Check out the full info for each figure below!

The Princess Bride Wave 1 Westley Dread Pirate Roberts 7-Inch Scale Action Figure:

As you wish! This Princess Bride Wave 1 Westley Dread Pirate Roberts 7-Inch Scale Action Figure features ultra articulation with up to 22 moving parts for a full range of posing and play. Westley is depicted in his Dread Pirate Roberts outfit as seen in The Princess Bride and comes with a sword and a base. This figure is showcased in The Princess Bride-themed window box packaging.

The only thing known concerning the Dread Pirate Roberts is that he never leaves captives alive. It is revealed during the story that Roberts is not one man, but a series of individuals who periodically pass the name and reputation to a chosen successor. Everyone except the successor is then released at a convenient port, a new crew hired, and the former Roberts stays aboard as the first mate. The constant reference to “Captain Roberts” establishes the new Roberts’ persona. After the crew is convinced, the former Roberts leaves the ship and retires on his earnings.

However, this iteration of Dread Pirate Roberts is really Westley, who inherited the title after the previous Dread Pirate Roberts retired. Westley had grown close to his predecessor after he was captured while searching for his fortune to return to Buttercup. In an attempt to help him achieve this goal the Previous Dread Pirate thought this position would help Westley achieve his goal.

The Princess Bride Wave 1 Red Dress Princess Buttercup 7-Inch Scale Action Figure:

Princess Buttercup is a beautiful farm girl who lives in the country of Florin and is the true love of Westley.

The Princess Bride Wave 1 Inigo Montoya 7-Inch Scale Action Figure:

Take revenge on the six-fingered man! This Princess Bride Wave 1 Inigo Montoya 7-Inch Scale Action Figure features ultra articulation with up to 22 moving parts for a full range of posing and play. Inigo Montoya is featured in his iconic outfit as seen in The Princess Bride and comes with a sword and a base. This figure is showcased in The Princess Bride-themed window box packaging.

“Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya; you killed my father; prepare to die.” This phrase that Inigo practices repeatedly for his ultimate encounter with Count Rugen completely sums up his motivation throughout the story. We learn in a flashback to his childhood that he had adored his father, a great sword maker, who had created as his magnum opus a glittering sword for the six-fingered count. The Count returned, was displeased with the product, and refused to pay the price he had originally offered. Then in a fit of anger, he kills Inigo’s father, shattering the young Inigo’s life. Inigo spends the rest of his childhood and young adulthood mastering the sword, and ultimately becomes a wizard, the highest-ranked swordsman in the world. Having achieved this and still not found the Count, Inigo lapsed into depression and came out of it only when Vizzini recruited him to assist in his criminal organization. He fears losing his purpose again, and therefore he remains faithfully with Vizzini.

The Princess Bride Fezzik Megafig Action Figure:

Anybody want a peanut? The Princess Bride Fezzik Megafig Action Figure features ultra articulation with up to 22 moving parts for a full range of posing and play. This incredibly detailed figure is based on the giant Fezzik’s iconic look in The Princess Bride. Fezzik includes a peanut, a rock, and a base. This figure is showcased in The Princess Bride-themed window box packaging.

Fezzik, the giant was employed by Vizzini. He doesn’t have a problem with subverting the law but doesn’t like to fight dirty. He is friends with Inigo; the two like to play rhyming games with one another from time to time at the ire of their employer. Fezzik is very tall and big so at a very young age, his parents made him fight competitively. He is from Turkey but met Vizzini in Greenland where he was unemployed.
